1. Make multiple meaningless interim belts

2. Don't make champs defend belts, ignore rankings

3. Force worse than 2 months worth of mma training level wmma fights on every card

4. Have an actual WWE guy commentate

They're doing a stellar job of making mma 'a legit sport'.

Fertittas did all of this and more.

sport
spôrt/
noun
  1. 1.
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

It doesn't matter what WME or Bellator or Rizin do, MMA is a sport.

yes and feminism is about equality

yes and feminism is about equality

What does that have to do with anything?

Are you implying that because there's a thing that's no longer what it was once defined as then that automatically makes something completely unrelated not what it's defined as?

Sounds about right.

feminism is defined as the struggle for equality between the sexes. I don't think that changed. what did change was the nature of that struggle and what is defined as equality between the sexes by feminists.

In a similar manner, sports are loosely defined by the dictionary but they relate to society in a much more complicated way than that. So when someone says 'WME isn't making MMA a legit sport', they're not saying MMA isn't a sport because that's absurd. But they are saying the UFC doesn't have the strict meritocracy that permeates every single major sport. So using the dictionary definition doesn't work, the same way using the dictionary definition of feminism in a conversation about feminism, doesn't help.

why does wme have to legitimize mma?
Well, the UFC was all about Reebok (a deal bad for the fighters) was all about making it legit like NFL etc.

When it suits them.
