Other than hardcore conor haters/khabib fans, the casuals would forget about khabib as soon as they saw , what would without a doubt be a 100% fireworks press conference between tony and conor. The fight would also be 100x more entertaining with tony likely being wobbled multiple times regardless of winning or losing. As a result a rematch would be more exciting and more wanted than a conor vs khabib rematch.

Khabib will sit in contract lock status indefinitley so his relevance will drop faster than Diaz. If UFC really wants to play 4-D chess with it, they push for Bellator to sign Askren behind the scenes, then release Khabib, he would lose to Askren then retire and UFC/Conor ultimately win the battle.
