The Ponies Thread (part 2)

Yeah, I got to play this #9 horse in the last race, which is a maiden. Tops in SP, MP, EL, and ELD, and is going to go off at long odds. W/P for $4/$6.

Whatever I won last night at Woodbine was given right back today almost to the dollar. This is frustrating.

I got 2nd with this guy at 45/1. Place and show equaled $46. Holy shit.

Yeah, I really didn't need to watch the replay of that. Less than a foot away from getting a monster payoff in the contest with this guy. The bright side was that he was only a foot away from finishing 3rd, so the "what could of been" goes both ways if being fair.

Yeah, screw what the public looks at. 97%-98% of them lose money betting the ponies, so why do I want to implement so many things that they're also looking at? That was loser talk when I mentioned it last night. In fact, if anything I should be trimming a couple of things that I originally included in the program.

"A loser thinks there are rules for both winning and losing."

"Only by going against the tide of mainstream horseplayer rules and prejudices, can we make a profit."

"Dare to be different and win."

- Dr Howard Sartin

@t6p and @BluntTrauma21

Things like PP, AC, and BT are going to get an input of 0 from me for tomorrow's just because those have most of the factors that the public is relying on. If you guys want to look at them on your own by all means. But I'm going to leave them blank for the time being until I can assign something else to those slots. An obvious substitute for prime power is pace pattern, right? Once I can figure out values for each of them then I can implement it. Maybe instead of average class AC can become something like "also concerning" and can factor things like vet scratches and such. I don't know. I'm just thinking out loud here.

I also may not do every horse that's running tomorrow if they don't have a comparable race to take from.

@t6p and @BluntTrauma21

Gonna need a little time this morning before I get the numbers for you guys. I just woke up, and plus I'd like to look up some things just so I don't have to leave a horse blank if I can help it. It'll probably be around 3 or 4 your guy's time if that's okay.

@t6p , @BluntTrauma21

Sorry gentlemen. I'm guessing you guys were hoping for a power outage across western Canada that would stop me from doing these thus giving you guys a fighting chance. But no such luck I'm afraid.

I went #8, #4, #10 myself, T. I really wanted to take the #5 horse in the last race considering there's a few things to like there and he should be a great price. But the pace potential of the race and what could be a mad rush to the short 1st turn from a few of the outside horses scares me when it comes to him. If the #10 somehow scratches, though, then I'm with you on all three. Shit, I may do so anyways because it's not like I've ever been hesitant to change my mind. :confused:

I do like the fact that not including a few of the public's favourite factors points to better price options, though. I was starting to have my top ranked horse go off the favourite, my 2nd ranked horse go off as 2nd choice, 3rd ranked go off as 4th choice, and so on, and so on. Being the dummy that I am, what I tried yesterday would have only made it worse.

Nice. 9/2 is okay.

So it's like that, huh? Get rid of of the public factors and get the cash.

I had them ranked #1, #2, #7 going in, and if the #7 (at 23/1) had another foot in him that would have been the tri in order.

Woodbine has a hi-5 in race 10 that has my name on it I do believe. It's a big 14 horse field, so the potential payouts could be monstrous. I'll probably just use my top 3 or 4 with this then include the top SF and ELD horses if they aren't in the top 3/4 already.

Look at this moron. Cashes on a mid priced horse by an inch or two and suddenly thinks he can hit a hi-5 after not even being able to hit a 1/5 horse yesterday.

==========

Thinking a 2x3x7x7x7 play that race. It'll cost $48 for $0.20, so that's right about what I wanted to risk, although I'm wondering if the length of the 10's line means that he's going to win or he's going to finish last. Hmm..

Maybe go; 4,6 / 4,6,10 / 1,2,4,5,6,10,14 / 1,2,4,5,6,10,14 / 1,2,4,5,6,10,14 ???

Yeah, I don't know if I can do a ticket for this hi-5 that I'd be happy with since I'd like to include the #10 in 1st as well, but don't want to spend any more on the race than $50 or so.

What are the chances I can beat both the top two choices out of the top 5? :confused::eek:

Yeah, screw it.

I'll go #4, #6, #10 exacta box for $2, and then #4, #6, #10 / #4, #6, #10 / #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, #10, #14 trifectas for $1. I'll probably win bet the #10 for $8 as well since that one should be the longest odds of the three I'm most interested based on will pays. The length of it's line based on him leading in the most categories is also calling to me.

And I answered the call at 11/1.

Think it came back 10, 1, 13, 6, 5
