This has been touched on as a potential explanation of the recent attack in Canada by many posters, but pretty regularly gets brought up. I didn't bring any studies on the matter, but the nexus between male sexual frustration and mass violence is well documented, from "loner" gunmen like in Columbine to ISIS recruits and the documented rape market within ISIS ranks. Even dating back to pre-modern times, there was a clear centrality of sexual appropriation to war and conquest, seeming to incentivize mass violence for dudes who can't get laid.

In a civilization that commodifies romantic success and frames violent behavior as a possible cultural response (or in cases incentivizes aggression as a precondition to expanding one's romantic market value), how do we address this potential issue?

And, in the name of solidarity, I hope to extend an olive branch to any sexually frustrated forever alone-types on this site. If you're a particularly loveless WR member and are bubbling with aggression, the War Room is here for you: member @Fawlty enjoys being watched while he masturbates and will give you his Skype handle so you can set up a romantic rendezvous.

Social awkwardness, autism/autistic like behavior, internet culture.

Many of these dudes were likely bullied at school also, this goes a bit beyond romance these dudes are outcasts, on the fringes of society.

I say we let nature run it's course and let men collectively snap as has been the case for every generation.

You're marinating nicely Mr Trotsky... The poetry is fluid almost seamless through your lucid secretions. You will be even more beautiful to The Nexus as time progresses.

It is a very worrying trend. A potential reason for public shootings has always been known to be a "at least they'll notice me now" mentality. Something like the lack of love like and hopeless feelings romantically could be a cause of that previous mentality

Any chance this thread has helpful discourse on the topic before it devolves into a sloots should put out to stop shooters?

I think the internet culture has really allowed these people to find others like them who feel vindicated in their feelings that the rejections aren't truly their fault and more that society is wrong for not liking them more

Before, as someone said in another thread, they'd either become hermit like to society or learn to adjust and adapt as best they could to fit in.

We need to address this issue with improving our education system. We need to teach children ethics, consideration, critical thinking. I think this is a massive part of it... If this kid was taught for years in school everyday, to consider the impact of his actions on others, and have the mind to think of more appropriate solutions to his issues.

This would not have happened, to be able to think again and realise how worse off others are, that this will pass and isnt the end, and to think to reach out to the right people/programs to vent ... Anyways...this whole thing has put me in a bad mood...everywhere it occurs but especially in my Country of Canada it is hard

I'm going take an involuntary vow of celibacy on your face.

This is weird though. I don't think the US and Canada all of a sudden have a ton of young men not getting laid, compared to the past. And testosterone is apparently dropping, so what's the deal? These groups are pushing so many borderline, pathetic dudes like Kone and Devout Pessimist over the edge. If it really is just random behavior that is socially reinforced by these groups and by Heath Ledger's Joker and Instagram, accounting for higher incidence of mass violence, that's kind of sobering.

Stretching big time.....

Yeah, this isn't even controversial (see the concurrences from right-side posters above).

If I were to posit one correlation in mass shooters/rammers/etc., it would be that they can't get laid.

Easily.

Ya I was thinking about this yesterday. If you look back at when these mass killings started they seem to go hand and hand with the proliferation of internet porn. I think for 99% of dudes they can watch porn and be fine but theres that 1% of dude who before internet porn would just be a forever alone virgin loser to scared to talk to women but they didnt know what they were missing out on. Now with the click of a mouse they can watch hundreds of these smokeshow porn chicks way out of their league get railed in these hardcore scenes and I think it really fucks with these guys. Before internet porn they were still desperate but they didnt know what they were missing out on, it was out of site out of mind, now they watch all these other dudes banging these hot chicks and it really pisses them off. Add in no friends, shitty job etc and you get these mass killing sprees.

Obviously Im not saying all dudes who watch porn and do shitty with women would do a mass killing im just saying in that group theres a very small percentage who just cant handle it like the POS yesterday in Toronto

I didn't read the thread, but here's my two, uninformed cents.

We evolved as social animals. Sexual frustration and loneliness do have adverse effects on many I believe. Frustration due to the inability to compete in the sexual market place, and loneliness due to not having someone to share that burden with.

You'd think there would be studies out there on the topic.
