Sherdog's Top 10 NBA Players of All Time

Amazing, I never thought you would be able to both provide proof that you are a Koobytard and be subject to be shot on sight according to @Palis
Learn to read 3rd worlder... learn to read.

If you would like, I have a study in my basement with an copous amount of English literature we could... go over together. I could teach you much about reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation, the flesh and spelling.

So you do admit he is indeed a Koobytard :)

Tacit concession accepted

I rank your reply no higher than 1/10

I do not know what a Koobytard is... never heard that juan before.

What I do know is @The One True is at the top of his game in terms of astute knowledge and love for the beautiful game in general, not just one player. So if he says Kobe "Bean" "Vino" "The Black Mamba" "The One True GOAT" Bryant is #1, frankly I'm going to take his word for it.

I hope you truly understand my previous posts in here now.

Your only issue was me not understanding "higher than 10". Proves that you had no offense or issue to him being a Kobbytard. Post saved for future references.

Thank you

jcc this thread is not for debating or disparaging other people's lists. nobody criticized your shitty list (no offense) so i ask you extend the same courtesy to others

GheyCC literally has the worst list on here ROFL. How he can cast aspersions is beyond even my vast powers of analysis.

Bill Russell at #5 ROFL. This guy wouldn't average 15PPG in my rec league yet GheyCC lists him as the 5th greatest player of all time LMAO.

You SIMPLY can't make this stuff up.

1 - Michael Jordan
2 - Wilt Chamberlain
3 - Magic Johnson
4 - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
5 - Lebron James
6 - Tim Duncan
7 - Larry Bird
8 - Oscar Robertson
9 - Kobe Bryant
10 - Shaquille O'Neal

you're not exaggerating. he was a 15 ppg scorer during the highest pace, easiest to score era in basketball history. those 15 ppg also came at a 44% clip as a center

he was an undersized defensive specialist, literally the ben wallace of the 60s

every other "top 10" player is at worst a "very good" scorer (most are elite). magic and duncan are the worst scorers in general top 10 lists but even their scoring was very good. russell's horrific scoring isn't offset by anything else he does, good defender or not, and if you adjust his rings for being in an 8-team league and having the best roster in said league, he really has no business in the top 10

Wholeheartedly agree.

Only critique is that the Ben Wallace comparison is far too charitable for the overrated Russell.

IMO he's more comparable to a poor man's Theo Ratliff than Ben Wallace. Wallace shot 47% for his career in the modern era, he would be over 65% during Russell's day without a doubt in my mind.

TBH even a poor man's Ratliff may be too charitable a comparison the more I ruminate on it. How does one rank a "player" that couldn't stop Luc Longley from averaging 28 and 15? Are we even talking about an actual basketball "player" at that point?

i will have to reconsider my ben wallace comparison in light of this info

tbh the further back you go, the fewer players there are from each generation that would be effective (never mind elite) in today's league. i just don't see russell's game translating well. his athleticism allowed him to have a huge defensive impact for the time but in today's league, he wouldn't stand out in that regard - he'd be a 6'9" athletic "big" with zero offensive skillset. he happened to be in the right place at the right time as far as legacies go

that isn't to say none of them could play. wilt on the other hand was like 7'1" with maybe the biggest wingspan ever, and had a lot of the post moves shaq did

agree entirely on russell

in fact i'd w/o a doubt rank Rodman above him. Greatest Defender and Rebounder of all time, in the modern era, and won championships on multiple teams

Kinda disgusting seeing the disrespect being heaped on the late great Bill Russell itt

tried to slide Maravich in there but the rest were better for longer. left the towering stiffs out since no skill/played against my grandpa. reluctantly put Bird in there since few non-racists would pick him over most on these lists. Lebron will end up #2 in time.

I think RealGM did as good a job as any here. Like many I'm reluctant to add Ruslte to my list based on titles and titles alone, and I think in a few more years the consensus will be that Lebron is the second greatest of all time without much debate. as it stands now my list is:

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Lebron
4. Wilt
5. Magic
6. Duncan
7. Shaq
8. Hakeem
9. Bird
10. Russell/Kobe

Ye the 10 players on RealGM's list are identical to mine, just in different order. Those are the consensus 10 from the experts
