Never saw Amelie but based on hearing such positive things from you guys on here, I checked it out of the library. Looking forward to it. Sounds like a good premise.

I recent caught 'Some Freaks' on netflix. I don't know why I hadn't heard about this but it is a really good coming of age movie that is more realistic than most. Most people have issues that they are working through and do really shitty things to themselves and others while just trying to deal with their problems. I was pretty surprised by it.

Anna Kendrick. She very rarely does things outside the comedy genre these days and I thought it was cool to see her in The Accountant.

Saw it. I really liked her in that one as well. That scene where JGL calls her from his car when he knows the imminent surgery is do or die in terms of whether he is going to be able to make it, that scene brought some feels.

Good movie. Not outstanding or anything, but it felt very authentic and it was definitely a quality dramedy with some good performances.

Did you see Up in the Air? Solid comedy-drama type movie with Clooney and Vera Farmiga and Kendrick was damn good in that one, too.

Just finished The Ritual (the horror movie by Netflix) and it was great. 8/10. One of my favorite Netflix originals and one of my favorite recent horror movies.

It was well done, good acting, great setting/ atmosphere, and the creature was creepy as hell.

Its like The Blair Witch Project/ The Witch atmosphere with a creepy monster. It's great.

I read the reviews and all the positive buzz last year and wanted to see it but never got around to it yet. I feel like it’s probably not much of a movie in a typical sense so I don’t know if I’d really get into it. Seems more like it uses its central conceit as sort of an abstract reflection on life and loss.

Still probably well worth a look. Also, I’m wondering when the whole notion of white sheets as emblematic of ghosts and spirits came about.

I watched Thor: Ragnarok and enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Really cool movie. 8.5/10 imo. Will probably buy it on blu-ray.

They Came Together is one of the best comedies of all time. So fucking funny and has a very high replay value. I'll be watching it soon.

Flemmy was pretty lukewarm on it iirc. What did you think of Dunkirk?

    I watched The Blackcoat's Daughter.
A slow burn Horror Film directed by Anthony Perkins' son.
I found it really engaging and tense until the completely bungled "ending".
It owes a lot to The Witch.
A lot of wasted potential, but worth a watch.

on to Batman Gotham by Gaslight.
    A new animated DC Flick.
Jack the Ripper is laying waste to Gotham prostitutes...............
Aside from the novelty of Batman in the 19th century this has nothing going for it.
The ususal Batman villains are meaningless side characters here. The reveal of Jack the Ripper is terrible.Batman isn't interesting either.
    The Animation looked boring also.
I've seen a load of better DC animated Movies.

I rewatched Mask of the Phantasm recently. That was legitimately good. The funny thing is, I always really liked Hamill's joker when I watched The Animated Series as a kid, but watching this film again, I almost felt like he hijacked the movie and not in a particularly organic way.

The flashback stuff with Bruce and Andrea was great and the present storyline is entertaining. Conroy was a great Batman.

Phantom Thread is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Daniel Day Lewis really chose a shitty script to end his career on. It’s disappointing as his last film with PT Anderson “There Will Be Blood” was phenomenal.

    I’d rate Phantom Thread a 1/10
