ROAD Fighting Championship is excited to announce the first match of Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 which will take place on February 11, 2017 at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea. Former ROAD FC Middleweight Champion will face Kim Nae-Chul for the right to challenge the current champ, Cha Jung-Hwan.

Riki Fukuda (23-8, Grabaka) will finally get the chance to get back on the road to redemption and reclaim his belt. Fukuda won the title at ROAD FC 024 on his home turf of Japan with a resounding KO over hot prospect Jeon Uh-Jin. Then in his first title defense on ROAD FC 028, Fukuda spent a round dominating Cha Jung-Hwan, but was caught in the second with a fantastic counter that dropped him to his knees and saw him finished off. The gritty grinder who has become a fan favorite will once again have a chance to work his way back into title contention.

Kim Nae-Chul (West Gym/Team Posse, 6-3) is a constantly improving slugger riding a 4-fight win streak that began with knocking out warhorse Ryota Noji while on his transformation down from light heavyweight. His Fight of the Year contender with Park Jung-Kyo at ROAD FC 033 instantly put him into the title picture. Kim is a precise and powerful striker with a huge gas tank that makes him the ultimate threat to his next opponent, and a misleading sparse record that shouldn’t be used exclusively to judge his worth.

Fukuda versus Kim for the right to fight for the belt will make an amazing crowd pleasing match for the fans of finishing fighters!

Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 will host the opening round of the International Trials to seed 5 fighters in the ROAD FC $1 Million Lightweight Tournament: “Road to A-Sol”. The ten matches for this historic event will be announced soon.

New Wave MMA ROAD FC is the stage where legends shine, rookies thrill, and epic battles are waged that determine the future of MMA. From the pageantry of the grand entrance to the final crunch of the KO, ROAD FC showcases the very best of Mixed Martial Arts sports and entertainment. As we say in Korea, "Fighting!"

Caporal will now resume his MMA career in ROAD FC, and will return to the cage in China where he is undefeated in nine fights. His greatest accomplishment was winning the RUFF Lightweight $1 million RMB Championship with wins over Zhang Lipeng and Wu Haotian. Now he has his sights on getting though the China Trials and on to the ROAD FC $1 Million Lightweight Tournament in 2017.

Caporal (13-5, Espada MMA) will face Mongolia's Amartuvshin Khuukhenkhuu (4-3, Shiren Beelii) in the China Trials. Khuukhenkhuu trained in Sambo since the age of 15, and added Judo to his resume before he transitioned to MMA in China's Legend FC and RUFF. He is an aggressive fighter who looks for every opportunity to finish; Khuukhenkhuu knocked out Wu Haotian and Alexy Makhno, and went a grueling three rounds with Kuat Khamitov. Most recently, Khuukhenkhuu was in the Ganryujima hybrid combat event where he fought to a decision loss in the quarterfinals.

The four winners of the China Trials will be seeded in the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament which will begin in 2017.

Nakahara Taiyo (14-8, Wayjutsu Keishukai GODS) is one of Japan’s best bantamweights who is dropping to the flyweight division. The Sengoku Tournament winner has only lost twice in almost 10 years with the last being his first fight in ROAD FC to Kim Soo-Chul. He has notable wins over Marcos Vinicius, Jo Nam-Jin, and Shintaro Ishiwatari. Early in his career, Nakahara faced the world’s up and comers in K-1 and Valkyrie such as Rani Yahya, Ivan Menjivar, Mike Brown, and Hideo Tokoro.

Moon Jea-Hoon (9-8, Octagon Multi Gym) is a mainstay in ROAD FC all the way from the second event in 2011. He’s faced the top in the bantamweight division and has wins over Kim Soo-Chul, Sato Shoko, and Yuta Nezu. Moon’s final fight of 2016 against Kim Min-Woo earned the pair ROAD FC’s Best Fight of the Year award for their amazing 3-round war at ROAD FC 029.

Nakahara and Moon will both drop to flyweight for the first time, and the grappler versus striker match sets an exciting outlook for the next powerhouse in the division.

Melvin Guillard vs Seung Yeon Kim announced as a trials bout for the $1 million GP

Funny that Melvin can never make weight but now he's fighting for ROAD FC who have some of the heaviest penalties for missing weight. Hopefully the money will bring out some professionalism in him for once.

Looking forward to Moon vs Nakahara, both can do very well at Flyweight. More so Moon since Nakahara rarely ever fights.

It's around $143k I believe

Damm, Guillatd at the trials? He should be a safe place in the tourney, but it's ok for me if he fights somewhere, thinks he is suspended in the states, good for him if he's making money

I did not expect Melvin guildard to be in road fc. Can't wait for that 1. That keyboard warrior guy is a ko artist and will be a tough fight but Melvin is fkin experience as fk

Looking forward to seeing Melvin at Road, if he makes it past the trials. Good thing for him is, I don't believe Road does any testing. Bad thing is, penalties for getting caught with drugs are way worse in Korea than the states.

Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 update: Sasaki Shinji versus Albert Cheng set for International Trials for the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament “Road to A-Sol”

ROAD36%2BSasaki%2Bvs%2BCheng.jpg

ROAD Fighting Championship announces the next match for Round 1 of the International Trials for the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament “Road to A-Sol”: Sasaki Shinji versus Albert Cheng. Round 1 will take place at Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 on February 11, 2017 at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea.

Sasaki Shinji (17-10-3, Burst) is one of Japan's most noted grapplers in MMA who has come to be more feared for his KO power. The former Shooto 70kg Champion has spent over ten years in MMA. Sasaki went undefeated in ROAD FC and earned the title shot against Kwon A-Sol, however, he was knocked out in the first round. Sasaki now begins his journey anew to get another shot at the ROAD FC belt and the huge purse that goes with it.

Albert Cheng (8-3, Evolucao Thai) is a BJJ black belt with a complete MMA game. Cheng launched into the public eye through his appearances in the first ever UFC “TUF: China”. After the UFC he went on a 6-fight win streak including back to back wins in ROAD FC. Cheng is set to be a dominant force as a ROAD FC fighter in the tournament as he makes his way to the title challenge.

Chang Hyun Kim vs King of Pancrase Andy Main added as a trials bout

Interesting bout. "Arm bar" Kim will have gone 2 years since his last fight, dropping a unanimous decision to Shinji Sasaki at Road FC 21. Kim is a true veteran of the Korean scene, starting out in local promotions way back in 2004.

Main will be coming off a year layoff, due to an injury, followed by a slew of canceled bouts.

Is this a sign of this tournament luring fighters out of the woodwork?
