Risk of war breaking out with North Korea over next 12 months?

Depends on how the Russia investigation goes. Gotta wonder who will be the third world country to get nuked to distract us from what is going on.

Is it really worst than it has already been in the past 60 years? North Korea still can't afford it, they can't even feed their population and they are supposed to be able to fully supply their overgrown army during an actual war?

They have nukes and ICBMs. They're a little bit of engineering fine-tuning from being able wipe out a mainland American city. Then it's just stockpiling until they can wipe out the entire U.S.

Many Americans would rather go to war than allow that to become a reality.

Yes, it is worse. It's now half a step from them having the ability to kill millions of Americans and 1 step from them having the ability to kill every American.

What do you all think the risk is?

The risk is 0.1%

There's always a chance of something crazy happening, but nobody wants a war with North Korea to break out and North Korea doesn't want to go to a real war. North Korea wants to scare people into leaving them alone so they can develop their security and feel stable as a country. We want North Korea to not fuck with other people.

On top of that President Trump is a pussy. He doesn't have the balls to start a war where millions will die.

Not too high. World markets are too interconnected. China doesn't want things to disintegrate too far.

12 months? Probably pretty low. Their days are numbered though.

Would it really be a war or just complete annihilation?

Anyting's possible with the unstable leader Kim Jong Un.

0% chance. Possibly even lower than that.

The US tends to use war/conflict to turn unprofitable situations into profitable ones. Rarely does a moral or ethical compass guide the MIC.

Not as a unit. The North Koreans have not figured out how to make a small enough nuclear device to fit on top of a ICBM. All their ICBMs are just rockets. Kim Jong-un is all about propaganda. He is bluffing. He wants a new deal from the west for food and financial help. He, or at least his generals, knows that war with the West would be the end of North Korea.

I doubt that's entirely true. Lots people and virtually every western intelligence agency believed that Saddam had WMDs. The idea that Saddam having WMDs was obvious, intentional lies is revisionist history so liberals can feel smug.

Did Bush and co. lie about other stuff like al-quada connections and tons of other stuff to promote war propaganda? Yes. But that's not the core issue. Lots of people really thought that Iraq had WMDs.

Kim jung Un has to know that any type of conflict would lead to his demise. I don't think he'd risk it.
