Still talking Scream?

What's everybody's favorite scary movie?

Scream's sequels were always hampered by a bit too much meta-commentary. I never got a chill from any of them, but they were funnier than the Scary Movie spoofs (dear God the dumb) at least.

In a perfect world Craven could've taken the Scream formula, a genre film plays out in the world where such films exist, without carrying out a continuance of the original.

It's hard to find a low point in the sequels, but I'll list one in each. In 2 the tepid reference to race issues, in 3 the Hollywood Bogeyman origin of Sid'd mother, in IV an endless series of slashers rattled off only for the answer to be a Michael Powell film.

Always has a special place for me because it was one of my mom's favorite movies so she showed it to me when I was waaaay too young and we always watched it together in the fall. She was so excited for H20 and we went to see it in theatre. I was 9 <Lmaoo>

I remember seeing h2o in theater as well. I was prob 10

Awesome. I also saw Halloween at a really young age, but didn't grow to love it until later.

As for more contemporary options. I thought both TCM and Hills Have Eyes remakes were outstanding

The torture porn turn for the genre since the mid 2000's does nothing for me and isn't horror

The TCM remake is great and it has Jessica Biel!

I have a very distinct memory of watching The Shining in my friend's basement when we were 11 or 12. It was only half finished at the time and on the other side of the house from the kitchen. It was like 2 AM and he fell asleep in the first 30 minutes(motherfucker always passed out first). I got so thirsty watching it but was terrified to walk across the pitch black creepy basement and then rest of the house by myself in the middle of the night. Then bar scenes comes and goddamn Jack made that drink look so good. It was torturous. I still think about that when I watch it and wanna pour some sweet tea in a highball lol

That Jack dance though
