Will the PL expansion prove a do-over for the title after widely maligned launch?

For new players? Yeah, go for it. Can't help but feel a bit shafted myself though.
Really appreciate your last remark here because amid the knob-slobbing chorus for CDPR right now, players like me buying for the first time are doing so on the backs of millions of players like yourself who in good faith bought the game 1000 days ago and were spit-roasted.

I’m happy for the studio – everyone loves a comeback story – but I want to keep the joy in check. They can earn their rep back; this C/punk redux is a good start.

Yeah, I'm glad that they didn't just abandon the game and made something good out of it, but this shouldn't be the industry standard.

A complete, well running game released at launch should be the standard.

My Steam copy states 18 mins playtime. I think i took that long to setup my toon but didn't even start the game. Will get to start this fresh with all the new updates. Musing on pausing my Starfield run to start...

What to do.... what to do....

Base game + PL bundle on sale in PS Store for 55€ until 4 October.

Fair shake, IMO. That’s a 30€ expansion and the base game for 25€. Need 200GB free space for bundle.

Base game alone also on sale for 30€.

How do you play Phantom Liberty? You just start regular Cyberpunk from the beginning?

You have the option of using an old save (not recommended), or start a completely new game from the beginning and choose your lifepath (best option), or skip everything and immediately start Phantom Liberty.

Patch v2.01 coming soon to tighten things up even more:

These are the most important fixes incoming:
  • The distorted effect caused by selecting a specific dialogue option when talking to Johnny at the end of Automatic Love will no longer persist on the screen.
  • V will no longer die in The Heist by falling through the elevator when riding to the 42nd floor with low FPS.
  • Fixed an issue where the UI could show controller inputs when playing with keyboard and mouse and made it possible to properly switch to arms cyberware by cycling through weapons.
  • Gig: Breaking News will be properly triggered after approaching the quest area.
  • Vehicle radio volume will be adjusted so it's not too quiet when compared to other sounds in the game.
  • Addressed the issue of corrupted saves on PlayStation by increasing the maximum save file size limit. Note: this won't fix the saves corrupted before the update. If you're experiencing the issue, keep a working save (e.g. resave it as manual save) till 2.01 arrives.
  • Performance improvements for both PC and consoles, especially in the Dogtown area.

Is there a revolver in Phantom Liberty that is more fun than Johnny Silverhand's?

I'm going doing a gunslinger build & planning on just doing story missions until getting that gun, unless there's another revolver in Phantom Liberty thats even better.

Can't you buy them from the snuff film guy? Or the porn store? Or is your software always "incompatible?"

They aren't real, just junk inventory items.

I wish they would have done more with the braindance stuff in general. It's very cool as a concept but only comes into play for a couple missions. Hopefully they expand on them in the sequel.

So in terms of system requirements is this more demanding or less demanding than the original release? Did they optimize stuff?

Found this 'John Wick' pistol/gunslinger build for 2.0 that I'm going to follow closely.

Was thinking of doing the story missions until I got Johnny Silverhand's gun, clothes, & car... but isn't that like 70% through the main game? No side quests included?

So I'm going back and forth with either doing that, or settling for the 'Death & Taxes' pistol you get at the end of Judy's questline - which is still one of the best pistols in the game but lacks the 'holy fuck this is awesome' factor Johnny's gun has - and immediately dive into Phantom Liberty ASAP after the Voodoo Boys quest part of the main questline.

I still have to finish up this game, but honest take:

I pretty much hated Cyberpunk at launch. It always had great elements to it, but it was such a buggy, unoptimized mess and felt very disjointed at times. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but Night City never felt alive to me in a way.

Man, have they turned this thing around. I honestly feel like 2.0 will become one of my all time favorite games. The quests, the characters, the gunplay and skill trees. And how they didn't turn this world into Blade Runner 1.5. Night City is a sexed up, ultra violent hellhole, but it's very vibrant. No grey and brown neo noir dystopia and the game is so much better for flying its very own flag.

Doesn't excuse the state it was launched in, but I would recommend anyone to give this amazing game a second chance if you haven't already.

As far as big open world RPG's go, it is a much, much better and more immersive game than Starfield imo.
