Name a person with a better résumé at lightweight than Tony Ferguson.

he winner of ferguson vs khabib will crown the lightweight king.

Hey I like Toney a lot,,, but he has not earned a seat at the table.

Nobody active in the division is yet....

They all need to hold the belt for at least a few fights for all time great status...

Tony, Khabib, even Connor could be up there someday

Love watching all of them fight

i feel bad for tony because he done so much and now hes defending an interim belt.

The Greatest Lightweight of all time will not have a unanimous decision loss to Michael Johnson

The best MW got aubmitted by a guy with a losing record.

The greatest WW got knocked out by a TUF winner.

The greatest FW got tapped by some nobody.

The greatest FLW got ragdolled by Brad Pickett.

The man that beat the shit of that one in your AV has a better resume in lw, and is also the future WW champion.

WAR RDA!

Right now there isn't one. Tony has the best resume in the LW division. Khabib is close behind, and like you said, whoever wins this fight will easily be THE man in the division.

I think you could make an argument for Eddie Alvarez... He has 2 more losses and 6 more wins than Ferguson but I think he's fought the better competition over all. He knocked out the former dominant WSOF lightweight champ Gaethje, beat former Bellator Champion Mike Chandler, former dominant Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez, former UFC champs Pettis and Dos Anjos. He also has wins over Pat Curran, Roger Huerta, Josh Neer, Shinya Aoki and Patricky Freire... Don't get me wrong here I'm not saying hes better than Ferguson but a case could be made. Ferguson has big wins over Lee, Dos Anjos and Barboza but after that who has he beat... Josh Thompson? Lando Vannata?

You won't find anyone and does that mean he is the goat at lightweight? Belts don't mean anything anymore so if we can all agree on that I think it's safe to say he is the greatest lightweight of all time.

Tony's best accolade is his win streak. He has some decent names like RDA and Barboza but other than that it's not THAT amazing.

Even if he didn't have a broken arm in that fight, he still would have the best resume at lightweight. Let that sink in. Now go sit in a corner and eat your cereal

He broke his arm because he didn't know how to block a head kick. Let that sink in.

<WellThere>

RDA: Cowboy(2), Henderson, Pettis, Diaz

All top 5 at the time.

Point taken :)

totally forgot about RDA. He's up there for sure but he couldn't put a long winning streak together. Had some losses in between .

I would definitely say either Khabib or Tony is the best lightweight fighter we have ever seen.

The other one is the second best.

Lost to Johnson, imo lost to Castillo, and imo would've lost to Lee had Lee not had staph.. bit at the least, Lee exposed what Castillo and Johnson did. Which is, Tony even though a college wrestler, has no wrestling mma skill set when compared to those like Castillo and Lee.. who are no on the level of Khabib, Gillespie, and a few others at 155. Khabib has a 20+ win streak at 155, that resume outweighs any other currently in the weight class.

Fickle fans always stating the same thing with current champs. Bendo GOAT! Pettis GOAT! RDA GOAT!

Tony is flavor of the month.

Alvarez with wins over Hansen, Kawajiri, pitbull, Aoki, Chandler, Gilbert, Pettis, RDA, and Gaethje.

Everyone loses in MMA, this isn't boxing.

The winner of Tony/Khabib has a claim to being the LW GOAT, no one has ever gone on a win streak with several top 10 wins like they have.
Everyone? Khabib hasn't lost yet, Bopo, Benito, Gillespie, Israel, Till, Inoue, Johns, Mina, Ortega, Deiveson, O'Mallet, Menga, Costa, Giles, Ledet, and I could continue on with fighters in the UFC alone, who are undefeated with over 10 fights.. even Rickson retired undefeated. Know your history of MMA and stop comparing it to boxing.

Don't you think he needs to beat the undefeated lightweight and champ?
Once the dust settles between these three you'll have your answer.

Only Khabib really. That other guy isn't even relevant at this point.
