He was the reason to watch those roasts, he was the main event and he delivered every time. Dude was a savage.
he went to Harvard Law or some such shit and stopped practicing law to become a comedian.Miss that guy. He was oddly smart. I remember him destroying Denis Leary on Rough Crowd:
He's the GOAT. This is known. Dude was your worst nightmare if he decided to pick on you
Funny thing is that all of those roast sets (comedian or celebrity) are generally based on the style of the Rickles / Martin roasts from the 70s, but Giraldo brought it to a new level of brutality. He was epic.
I'd love to see Chapelle on one of those things.
There's a couple of moments there where you can tell Leary knows he's outmatched. Has to go with the "this guy pre-wrote jokes for the show," to try to pick apart the fact that Giraldo had him so scouted and touched him with teh jab at will.
"There hasn't been a more effeminate jew in the closet since Ann Frank"To Gilbert Gottfried: "You have the sex appeal of a schoolbus fire"
His roast of flava flave was the best I've seen outside of maybe Norm MacDonald.
How friggin sad that of them are gone. Patrice was one of the best for sure, too.
Norm, Burr, Gaffigan are my go tos at this point.
His cracks on Lisa were brutal. Just cold hearted savagery, so damn funny.
Giraldo is awesome. Jeff Ross is also one of the best roasters of all time.

Correct. There was this one comedian who talked about getting a drunk in public violation, so Giraldo represented him in court, ran circles around the judge, and got him off.
To be fair anyone fairly sharp would of had Leary on the ropes that night but I don't think Leary was talking about the responses when he started attacking Greg's preparation. Watch a few tough crowd videos and it'll become obvious he's ready to insult everyone he knows on personal level. Everyone but Patrice and DiApaolo just ignore it for the most part and Leary was stupid enough to get upset. And the "pre-written joke" he was complaining about was anything but, it was simply Greg's instant eviscerating rebuttal to the point Leary was trying to make. As if Greg sat around beforehand and wrote a "Yeah like that big Russian war" line because he somehow knew Leary would make some comment about another country aiming weapons at you
Leary was on the ropes and flailing that entire exchange
