Mother of God, Greg Giraldo at roasts was brutal and hilarious.

He was the reason to watch those roasts, he was the main event and he delivered every time. Dude was a savage.

To Gilbert Gottfried: "You have the sex appeal of a schoolbus fire"

Miss that guy. He was oddly smart. I remember him destroying Denis Leary on Rough Crowd:

he went to Harvard Law or some such shit and stopped practicing law to become a comedian.

He's the GOAT. This is known. Dude was your worst nightmare if he decided to pick on you

Funny thing is that all of those roast sets (comedian or celebrity) are generally based on the style of the Rickles / Martin roasts from the 70s, but Giraldo brought it to a new level of brutality. He was epic.

I'd love to see Chapelle on one of those things.

I'd watch those roasts specifically for Giralddo. And he had running themes from roast to roast on things he'd besmirch someone on. Jeff Foxworthy's mustache was one of them, he drilled home the fact that Foxworthy is gay on 2 different roasts lmao

Heard of the dude but never heard his shit. He's vicious. Very funny

There's a couple of moments there where you can tell Leary knows he's outmatched. Has to go with the "this guy pre-wrote jokes for the show," to try to pick apart the fact that Giraldo had him so scouted and touched him with teh jab at will.

And the "pre-written joke" he was complaining about was anything but, it was simply Greg's instant eviscerating rebuttal to the point Leary was trying to make. As if Greg sat around beforehand and wrote a "Yeah like that big Russian war" line because he somehow knew Leary would make some comment about another country aiming weapons at you

Leary was on the ropes and flailing that entire exchange

His roast of flava flave was the best I've seen outside of maybe Norm MacDonald.

Speaking of Norm

Giraldo: "Norm MacDonald is here - one of the funniest people ever. Norm's got a giant gambling problem. He's dropped more coin in a casino than Michael J. Fox at a parking meter."

Greg was just a brilliant comic. Watch his standup special mid life vices, it’s spectacular.

His humor isn’t rooted in viciousness either and it’s not why he was so epic. He always just went right after honest truths about people and the world in an often ironic way at how ridiculous stupid so many things are that we take too seriously.

Like when he was shitting on Joan rivers in her roast, he just went off on LA plastic surgery people. It was just so clear how he really felt and the lack of phoniness made it even more funny.

These roasts are not funny though. Just mean spirited. Norm was funny roasting bob sagget and gilbert was hilarioous roasting rosanne. Aside from that these are not funny. I have watched them all.

Giraldo is awesome. Jeff Ross is also one of the best roasters of all time.

I like Ross prison roasts

Skip to last quarter of vid

And Jeff Ross is famous for the same reason Hitler is, for roasting people - said some other roaster named Nicole something.

His cracks on Lisa were brutal. Just cold hearted savagery, so damn funny.

"She told me she was nervous about performing... said she had knots in all four of her stomachs"

<bball2><bball2>

Correct. There was this one comedian who talked about getting a drunk in public violation, so Giraldo represented him in court, ran circles around the judge, and got him off.

It was an "Inciting a Riot" charge...which makes it all the more amazing he got it dropped.

"Jerry Springer good to see he slithered in here today, you cultural sodomite. You've fist-fucked our civilization like Gilbert's uncle on Valentine's Day. You were an aid to Bobby Kennedy, which probably explains your connection to Hasselhoff; I guess you like to hang around guys whose careers end on a hotel floor."

That's just GOAT-tier stuff lmao

To be fair anyone fairly sharp would of had Leary on the ropes that night but I don't think Leary was talking about the responses when he started attacking Greg's preparation. Watch a few tough crowd videos and it'll become obvious he's ready to insult everyone he knows on personal level. Everyone but Patrice and DiApaolo just ignore it for the most part and Leary was stupid enough to get upset.
