Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie 2

I like chess matches...

This one is for sure one of the greatest ever, reminiscent of waldemar santana vs carlson gracie (+3h)

I see... So ure a Pancrase dude?early days? I am.

Yeah man

That´s great man, I thought I was the only one left...

I truly believe the 1990s Pancrase had ALMOST the perfect set of rules , as Im strongly against GNP

It favoured grapplers

But strikers like bas became sub masters because of it

Pancrase was is real mma

People say it isn't are idiots

Pancrase had more serious injuries than UFC pride put together

True.. Bas, even Tiger White...

Incredible that Bas became a sub specialist after Pancrase, as a Commentator

He evolved as he went on he's not on kens level or funaki Suzuki, when he called out rickson after 1998 event he's delusional

Good fighter though

It took me a minute to remember who the fuck Matt Howard is.....Yeah, they fought in 2005 and next year GSR took the welter weight champion belt from Howard. They all came back to me now

Hughes vs Ralek.

He avenged the Gracies with Sakuraba, maybe he'll do the same here.
I'm still butt-hurt about this fight, damn Saku had that submission sank deep before the ref started fucking around
(they replaced the ropes by a cage to avoid this kind of bullshit)
,we were already celebrating, I was waving my Sakuraba shorts like a flag aaaannnnd restart.
Saku almost had another Gracie on his resume, such an unfair ref intervention...

And Hughes vs Royce 2, why not, after the obviously fixed Shamrock vs Kimbo I can't take Bellator seriously, might as well have some other "washed up legends fights".
I'd prefer it if Bellator made some grappling bouts, like they do with kick-boxing. With no strikes Royce would last longer.

Frank vs Ken, come on, it's the last time (for the 5th time IIRC) that this bout can be made, make it a special grappling bout if it's what it takes, but.... aaah who am I kidding, that fight was meant to be teased, never to actually happen...

Or make a tournament with the sons of MMA legends who compete/train haves competed
- Ryan Shamrock
- Ryan Couture
- Brandon "Babybean" Esch
- Caleb "Lil'Bean" Esch
- Darnell "Rampage" Jackson
etc etc

^^^Tank''s nephew was supposed to fight on that Throwback NHB card that was getting posted about like crazy in late 2015. Haven't heard anything about him since than.

Yeahh.. Bas did call him. Ken from Pancrase days would be competitive, good leg locks game..

Still, Rickson´s true rival was Marco Ruas.

Yes, Ruas IMO old enough to qualify being in Rickson's era. Rickson was inexperienced when he fought Zulu or even Hugo. By 1994/95, Rickson was in his prime in every way. Ruas was I believe, one year or so removed from a UFC debut. Had these two guys fought each other, I actually think Rickson could easily lose that fight. While it's true Rickson was elite at BJJ and ahead of his time, Ruas was way taller and more improtantly, familiar with BJJ to avoid obvious no-gi attacks and worse, can strike a million times better than Rickson.

And I have mad respect for Rickson's visionary approach to MMA during his time.

Shame Rickson didn't accept. I'd bet my house on Bas.

The fight that nobody was asking to see.

Pretty much my thoughts.

Good fights for Royce

Sakuraba rubber match
Yoshida rubber match
V SHamrock
V various single style guys his age of styles he never fought
