Oh that explains it.

He and the UFC fantards who think like him never saw Pride, or saw the various true killers that Fedor destroyed. Sure, there were some lower level fighters among Fedor's streak, but there were more killers in the Pride HW division than have EVER been in the UFC HW division. For the past ~7 years at least, the UFC HW division has been shit. That is something the UFC-only idiots need to know.
His two worst opponents during his PRIDE run, aside from Zulu, who truly was terrible, weren't even in PRIDE. At least one of them was a showcase fight at Inoki Bom Ba Ye on NYE (which is showcase central), and the other was in RINGS and may not have been that bad, I'm just unfamiliar with the opponent. I think these dummies who don't know their facts like to lump those fights in like they were in PRIDE. What they should do is go watch some fights, so they can understand what they're talking about.

I was going to say b/c it's such a higher percentage of KOs. And while it is higher it's not substantially higher, or high enough to blame it all on that.

HW KO - 50%
LWH KO - 42%
MW KO - 37%

So ya it's higher but we've still had LHW and MW defend the belt multiple of 3x over. I think it's a combination of HWs being able to be stopped by 1 "fluke" punch. Combined with most top HWs athletes being in other sports so you don't get a truly athletic dominant guy at HW.

...

Unlike in Pride, where Fedor feasted on mostly mediocre opposition.

Fedor's era was the golden age for HW. More consistent top guys than any era with only the few years of JDS/Cain wars competing.

Do not mistake the fact that Pride also through a ton of CAN fights to create highlight reels for the fans make you think there were not also top guys. Most top guys in Pride would fight 3 to 4 times a year with 2 top quality and 1-2 can fights, again for the finishes and highlights. that seems to confuse many.

Fedor still had 1-2 top quality fights a year which is as many as UFC champs take.

Igor "Ice Cold" Vovchanchyn was 5'7" and retired with 59-10 record MMA with 51 finishes (41 KOs) and 61-2 Kickboxing with 48 KOs
And he fought in PIRDE HW, not UFC HW with 5 contenders

Dude, stfu. If you're commenting on the super stud Struve, then a guy like Ogawa, or Fujita, who was fucking top 10 in the world at the time, were not inferior competition. The only legit scrub he fought in PRIDE was Zulu. Keep revising history though, so I can keep telling what what a fucking dumbass you are.

Although, perhaps you are right. He never lost in PRIDE, so I guess all competition was inferior by default. But the guys in PRIDE sure weren't inferior to guys like Cabbage and Gan McGee, who were ruling the UFC back in that time. Good to know you're not a longtime fan.

I think the problem is that we have many TUF era fans or after (Conor fans) who simply did not know Pride and they hear about all the CAN fights, which did happen, but they do not understand that the top fighters always also fought top real guys. top guys were often fighting 3-5 fights a year.

So for Fedor during his Prime run you had

2002 - 3 Fight total. 2 top or solid fights, one 'can' fight

- Herring
- Schilt
- Haseman

2003 - 5 fights total. 3 top or solid fight, 2 can fights

- Yuji NagataInoki
- Gary Goodridge
- Kazuyuki Fujita
- Egidijus Valavicius
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

2004 - 5 fights. All 5 top or solid fights.

- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
- Naoya Ogawa
- Kevin Randleman
- Mark Coleman

2005 - 3 Fights - 1 top fight, 2 can fights

Wagner da Conceicao Martins
Mirko Filipovic
Tsuyoshi Kosaka

2006 - 2 Fights - Both top fights

- Mark Hunt
- Mark Coleman

2007 - 2 Fights. One solid fight, one can

Hong Man Choi
Matt Lindland

2008 - 2010 as Fedor's prime was coming to an end and he was slowing down

Fabricio Werdum
Brett Rogers
Andrei Arlovski
Tim Sylvia

Top contenders? Like Ngannou, who's been training for 4 years with no previous experience? Or maybe you mean Derrick Lewis? Who is a one dimensional brawler with basically a punchers chance only in every fight? The contenders Fedor faced were way better than this shit UFC HW division.

This is silly. Both Ngannou and Lewis are way better than a lot of the fighters Fedor faced.

UFC HW bums never had the consistency of superior PRIDE HWs.

Stipe's streak against people who were in the top 10 a DECADE ago when they were in their 20s really shows you how bad the divison is now.

They are both worse than "a lot of fighters that Fedor faced" as well.

Jds run still the most impressive thing in history of that division.

Not as many as you'd think

Nog
Cro Cop
Sylvia
Arlovski
Coleman

Anyone else?

Schilt would crush Black Beast. So would Fujita. So would Arona. Rogers BB is a toss up.
Hunt already fucked BB up.

Herring is a more proven fighter than either BB or Ngannu.

HW is always a tough division because you had so many different styles and types. You have guys who are barely 206, and you have guys who are cutting down to 265 from 300lbs or more. You can have a 5'10" guy (Hunt) fighting a 7-foot guy (Struve). It's crazy. Couple that with the fact that in the UFC, you constantly have to fight the top contenders.

Unlike in Pride, where Fedor feasted on mostly mediocre opposition.
You know fedor beat like 6 ufc champions right?

Stipe beat a bunch of guys who were contenders a decade and a half ago, or has been gatekeepers. Then fought a fairly unproven Ngannu.

Top competition indeed.

Lol stop acting like you watched Pride.

Pride HW division around 2004-2006 is better than UFC HW division from any time period

They are both way worse than a lot of fighters Fedor has faced as well though. That’s for sure
