Lets talk about Conor grappling

That’s his point exactly. He didn’t have the money before those fights he does now. I’m not saying I agree I’m just pointing out the obvious.
Of hed no heart hed have broken duting those
Cash in the millions hasnt putoff boxers going through wars

It is alright at best. Khabib would destroy him and Ferguson would submit him.

Conor took Max down at will. 5 times I believe?

But Max hasn't been taken down in his last nine or ten fights. Safe to say that he fixed that hole in his game. Lamas couldn't even get him down.

good post. I'm a hater as well and I agree, not enough data. we haven't seen enough guys get in close enough to try TDs, they usually get put on queer street too quickly.

IMO the fact that an undersized guy like mendes was able to do it pretty easily means that comparable wrestlers at LW shouldn't have too much problem. even if alvarez hadn't been lit up almost immediately, his wrestling was never top shelf and so that wasn't a good enough test.

I want to say khabib is going to ragdoll him and make him look silly, but one left and suddenly he's wobbling around and it's the same thing all over again. doesn't matter how much of a stud wrestler you are, one clean shot with mcgregor and your game is out the window.

Connor has the worst grappling ever

Compared to Khabib.

Edgar will take him down as will - mark my words.

Good post, thanks. I agree with your statement about Alvarez wrestling; drive me nuts when people refer to him as a great wrestler. He's good but nothing close to great.

Conor's ground game is about as good as the haters are good at getting chicks.

His grappling is above average, but Khabib makes even above average look mediocre. I'm saying this as a Conor fan. Either Conor KOs Khabib early or Khabib finishes Conor on the ground in the later rounds. He cannot consistently shut down Khabib's grappling.

Conor has improved even more

And with grappling I mean wrestling, BJJ, Judo, etc. Anything related to stand up grappling to ground grappling. What’s your opinion about his BJJ coach, his wrestling coach and his training partners? Do you think we have enough evidence to make a full case about his grappling skills? He survived against a Gracie pretty well during a BJJ match, what you think about that?

First of all I’m a hater, I’m truly a hater and I want to start with recognizing that. Second, I want to be honest and recognize that as much as I tried to ignore it I still have a little bit of doubt about the claim he is a terrible or average grappler. The fact is that there’s a lack of data in order to come up with conclusions. Let’s discuss the 3 examples that everyone keeps talking about (I’m not counting his 2 sub loses from ages ago, that’s silly).

Chad Mendes is one of the best wrestlers and Conor didn’t prepare himself to fight an elite wrestler plus he claim he was injured? This is the best evidence that we have against Conor but still is not a perfect piece of evidence for the reasons described above.

Diaz submission is also used as an example but even a hater like me know this is not a very good piece of evidence since Conor gave up before that, he was tired and dizzy; we really didn’t see his grappling skills at all in neither of those fights.

Finally, probably the best example to his favor was his fight against Alvarez. Yes, Alvarez is a great fighter but nonetheless lets be honest he is a jack of all trades master of none, he’s is decent grappler but not elite, he doesn’t have the credentials and he haven’t outwrestled any elite grappler to make his case. I don’t believe he has the creativity and variations of take downs and throws that Khabib, Romero and other elite grapplers have.

Conclusion: His grappling skill level is a mystery (in my honest opinion) due to the lack of evidence.

P.S. sorry about my english (Second language.)
I agree, it's hard to say either way. His fans love to point out the Holloway fight but conveniently leave out that max was injured while stressing that Conor blew out his ACL. They were both injured, Max was green as can be so it's hard to glean anything from the fight. It's the same situation with Chad. I believe Conor when he says he had a knee injury in that fight as well. The Nate Diaz fights there is very little you can learn as well. He was rocked and possible concussed when Nate took his back and submitted him. I'm not one to say either way. I look forward to seeing him test his grappling against Tony or Khabib but until that happens it's hard to say.

Conor is a complete martial artist. *Come at me, bros!* . He may not be Khabib of grappling but Khabib is equally distant to his creativity, fluidity, fortitude of mindset, movement and striking; AND, this is what makes the battle of the 55 GOAT's so fucking compelling and has since 2014, to all those in the know and not riding bandwagons and sucking cock.

Sorry, yo, Khabib may very well get injured, not make weight, pull out, but when they fight, I will account bet the shit out of anyone that he is going to mop the floor with Tony :(
