He got some serious skills. But i guess its not easy to see with a untrained eye.

Good counter puncher, actually set traps and baited opponents into a brawl for him to just step back and counter them, he had a few tricks but his system relied on speed and a good chin.

I am one the biggest Chuck critics regarding his hype and he was never Nr.1 and never the "GOAT" at LHW. At no point. But that was an unfair description of his skills from the TS.

His takedown defense was worldclass and thats no easy feat to get to. Also he wasnt just a brawler. He was very good in using his reach what classic brawlers mostly forget in the heat of the moment.

Chuck always stayed cool and tried to outpunch his opponent with switched up head/body combinations. Also like other pointed out he could lay quite some traps and then counter fast and hard.

His defense was a great chin and fast footwork. When that left him he was lost vs better trained defensive fighters.

The best fighters werent in the UFC back then but Chuck was one of the very few who could compete against what Pride had to offer. Regarding UFC level he was THE superstar and in Pride he still was a very good LHW.

He's one of those guys you can tell his punches fucking hurt, Rumble and Ngannou knocks you out cold, but Liddell seems to be in the middle, hard enough to crush you, and not enough to shut the lights one punch, the way he folded Tito, on the cage, painful to watch lol
