That's pretty silly. She put more forth effort than most Americans who have spent years living there. Seems more like "You didn't lose when you were supposed to."

The mistake was how she presented it. Totally fine to try and fail at Japanese. But to then say "See I saved you money on an interpreter" can be seen as a slight losing-face situation. It's Japan, so they can be a little eek about that kinda stuff. The guy I was sitting next to at the show giggled at the salt-sauce portion. But then when she said the second part went "oooooh no. unfortunate."

But she's marketable and a decent fighter; and given KotC has healthy tie-in with Rizin, she'll be fine.

How bad were the terms?

the pay was low and I don't think it covered any travel expenses etc..
