Actually its opposite, in 1999 when Chechen militants terrorist invaded Dagestan with 2 k+ fighters khabib Village and couple of other villages took up arms to stop the invaders and fought on Russian side because they did not want to be ruled by foreign jihadist. Khabib also had death threats by Islamic extremists because less and less young kids are joining them because khabib keeps pushing for them to join combat sports. Dagestan has a population of 2 million with over 36 different ethnicities. Khabib nearest next neighborhood Village is 2.5 miles away and they speak total different language from them. Only way anyone can communicate in Dagestan is through russian because every town every other Village speak total different language. The only thing they all have in common is Islam as their religion, they could never be independent from Russia because of 36 ethnicities nobody could agree to rule each other and even before russian empire invaded in 19th century Dagestan was always at War between each other

Peoples of Dagestan are a different culture and different ethnicity living within country's borders. Ideally they should be independent from Russia, but of course Russia is not willing to give up its land.

Kadyrov will kill anyone who wants to separate from Russia or do any terror activities. Also Putin is a far right Orthodox Christian, he is against Gays and gay propaganda, so putin and Kadyrov have quite a bit of similarities in terms of believe when it comes against western ideology
