International Journalists Arrested for Inserting Salt Bae Into the Last Supper

You don't want that argument with him. If needing a shower was possible in text form, his arguments on the subject would be so.

I love arguments with all types...thats why I post in the war room. Come on bro, with the amount of times we have clashed you should know this. I take pride in taking on what should be an un-winable argument to hone my critical thinking by trying to defend what I dont even believe.

Middle Eastern/monarchic SJWs strike again

An interesting twist on a theme many of us decry.

One of the main points of contention among muslims in the west and the west itself is regarding blasphemy and how to handle it. One side says people need to have thicker skin, and to punish people for muslims when Jesus is fair game is barbaric. The other says to show respect to the iconography of the religion and the norms associated with it.

But in this situation, you have a 95% muslim country not only enforcing the blasphemy laws for the 4% minority christians, but going incredibly hard to bat for them it appears.

Does this affect your views on the muslim view of blasphemy, why or why not? I'm sure many of us will oppose on grounds of free speech (and rightfully so), but i'm curious how christians in particular feel about it.
Doesn't Islam recognize Jesus as a prophet? If so then it's not a surprise they'd get triggered over this

But blasphemy laws in any form are laughably ridiculous. And Salt Bae is awesome, I'm thinking if they actually knew who he was then they would be a bit more tolerant of his rightful inclusion here

I'd watch you guys arguing over hebephilia and political pedophilia within the prophet of islam. That's all I'm sayin.....

And yet adding salt to the plate of Jesus is an arresting offense...

Anyone doing anything referencing that dummy should be an offense worthy of jail time. This guy just doubled down and tossed him into a religious painting in a country with strict laws about such things.

Dont get me wrong, I think blasphemy laws are generally pretty stupid unless someone is going remarkably overboard. But he lived in the country, he should know the laws, so once said law is broken willingly it's kinda tough to garner anything more than 'welp, that sucks for him' on the sympathy scale.

Odds are it was a deliberate provocation to shine a light on how ridiculous the laws are. Thus he is worthy of praise and support.

Dark age laws all around the world need to be challenged by those living under them.

I agree that blasphemy laws are stupid (for various reasons), but I admit that the earnestness actually softens my view on them. Not on importing those policies to the west, but on the consistency.

If their aim is to "reduce sectarian violence", protecting an overwhelming minority is a great way of proving that to be true in my mind. It might still be a stupid policy, but at least their heart is in the right place.

You're a massive Islam apologist in general though, so it's hard to imagine your view softening tbh.

You were defending Mohammed for having a child bride recently...

This is one of those rare instances where a predominantly Muslim society use blasphemy laws to go after people for non-Islamic blasphemy. It's the exception to the rule. And if the tables were flipped, i.e. a Christian media outlet poked fun at Islamic iconography, there would riots and possible killings; the reaction would be much severe.
