Aldo wanted to fight him, and as much heat I give Aldo, stylistically Aldo is a nightmare match up for Khabib and is why Khabib wants nothing to do with.

Aldo wanted to duck Max and fight Pettis, and open about it, because Max was the harder fight, for the same reward.

Tyron Woodley wanted to defend his belt vs Nick Diaz

These aren't scared, but they know whose a harder fight, and would make easier money with better stylistic match ups.

In terms of risk/reward, Khabib is probably his worst option.

Does that mean he would wet his pants in the cage? No.

He's just strategizing with multiple objectives in mind, some of which are competing with one another.

Not a McGregor fan but I doubt fear enters the equation. Call it a risk benefit analysis. What does Conor get for each of the risk pathways he could follow. Conor is a huge threat to Khabib and no one gets where he has gotten without being supremely confident in their skills. Conor is in a position of advantage now and he is wise to keep his position for as long as possible. So next matchup will be whatever most benefits both UFC and Conor. Khabib looks like he could take out McGregor if he torches Ferguson. However fear does not enter the convo on the part of McGregor. Russia fight anyone?

Conor treats MMA as a business now and handpicks the fights he thinks he has the best chance of winning.

Well this is a strange morning, Sherdog has their thinking caps on instead of nothing but blindly nut hugging and making zero posts with content.

Conor doesn't fear anyone. It's not about fear, it's about statistics. His only and greatest weakness is Khabib's greatest strength and the Dagestani has been fucking unstoppable. Literally. Conor's been stopped three times and thrashed before with grappling. He's gotten better but it's still the safest and surest path to victory instead of dealing with his monster left hand. He knows it, Khabib knows it, the world knows it. His two possible LW choices are both murderers - Tony is as gifted as a MMA fighter as you could ask for and Khabib is a nightmare. Both are hard fights. In Conor's mind he can beat anyone at any time but surely he understands Khabib is the path of most resistance to keeping the belt and status he's spent his life working for. Easy choice.

Khabib and McGregor may not happen because of (1) Tony Ferguson and (2) Ramadan.

Khabib has to go through a training camp with no injuries, and he has to beat Tony with no injuries, to make a quick turn around and fight Conor before May (Ramadan starts May 27 to June 25). If he doesn't fight before May, he stated that he needs 3 months to recover from Ramadan, so we are looking at September.

If Conor is really going to take 10 months of maternity leave, then it works out for Khabib. But if Conor gets restless and wants back in, Khabib will be unavailable.

Conor vs Khabib may never happen. Khabib refuses to miss Ramadan, and Conor does whatever he wants in the UFC. Plus, Tony can win UFC209.

Actually zero indication he'll do that. That's the thing, the two times we've heard him and his coach even mention Khabib or Ferguson, was scoffing them off. We've only heard of him wanting to fight Floyd and Woodley.

A break doesn't prevent you from at least touching on your challengers, saying when you want to fight them. So you saying he's going to fight the victor is wishful thinking, not based on fact.

Oh hell.....I dunno....let's start with NOT defending any belt he has ever held....Taking safe fights with Diaz (win or lose) nothing happens...and now wanting another safe fight with a boxer (which will probably never happen)! He should be stripped by June....IF HE DOES NOT DEFEND HIS BELT!
