Investigative report reports that Americans are dumb

Yet they run the world, shows how much dumber the rest of the world is.

The U.S is going to continue to have this problem until several of its states fix the public education system significantly.

As it stands now, America is more a country of extremes in which it has some of the best private education institutions and some of the worst public schools in the developed world. And the gap is only widening in conjunction with the widening income inequality.

It isn't a right vs left debate. It isn't about immigration. It is about making sure everyone can get a half decent education to give them the chance to learn the skills that need to be applied toward tomorrow's economy.

Being American I am ashamed at how much we suck. I consider myself a smart man, I graduated with honors. Got my Associates degree in Accounting and feel like I am picking up the slack for many mentally Challenged Americans. If we had many more like me Americans and less Kardishians then America would be a nation filled with geniuses.

yeah, but guess what? the students ranked at the top come from pussy-ass countries. so fuck them, lol.

YES.

As Canadians we score 273 which makes us...
...average <45>

Trump being elected is proof enough. No matter what your political alliance is, left or right, I can't believe anybody thought Trump was someone you would choose to be your leader. All the people I knew personally who were high on Trump were idiots who didn't even know what the executive branch does. One of my friends kept calling Trump a "real man" and would be good for the country and this guy legit didn't know the three branches of government. He also believes the earth is flat so not surprising. And yet, they went to college and have degrees. Don't they teach critical thinking in schools?

So, it is possible to skate through college and not really absorb the information. Especially in majors where there isn't any math or theory upon which the upper division classes are built and you are just memorizing things and regurgitating them on every test. However, I know that in California, you are required to take some form of critical thinking. I would not be surprised if you did not in other places.

The point is though, college exposes you to information. Whether or not you learn is up to you.

I don't think that they are dumb. I think that Americans are lazy as hell. They drive their car to places that would be a 10 minute walk. They eat out all the time instead of preparing food at home. They get another person to do almost everything for them- "just call the guy". Disposable plates, throw-away everything. Microwave dinners and all the other processed food- it is gross and very unhealthy.

There is also another reason they may score low on tests- they don't care. They seem to have no shame at all in being incorrect. Terrible spelling, terrible grammar-it doesn't bother them as "They ain't got no time for dat".
In many cases, they are almost proud of their ignorance. I frequently see it here on Sherdog. For example, TLDR gets posted all the time with no shame, even when there is 30 seconds of reading involved.

Thirdly, public schools and most of the educational system is a joke. I will admit that the US does have a lot of high level, prestigious schools but the average level of education throughout the country is poor.

So, to sum up my observations:

When one goes to a shitty school and is quite content on achieving mediocrity (at best) and is too lazy to try to improve, that is a recipe for disaster.

I studied history and critical thinking, checking sources, and getting various points of views was a huge part of the curriculum. I assumed most people's academic experience was the same.

I majored in economics. I thought it was impossible to just skate through and never really learn anything. Yet somehow, there were people in my classes who didn't really learn shit. I have no idea how they did that. You had to understand it for it to make any sense. I imagine some found a way to cheat. Anyway, I've seen people skate through with a very limited understanding of the subject matter.

Yea we dont value education or health or anything like that and so that is what the people reflect . You try to give people healthcare or more education or even vacation time to unwind a bit and do something besides work and everyone yells about communism and socialism . Its weird as hell and even with all the morons running around theres still no where better to be

That's cause were smart enough to bring in the rest of the world's A+ students.

pulling more than my weight with a B.S. and a Masters. rest of you plebs need to catch up.
