If Blaydes gets the belt in the next few years...

Hasn't it typically been the weakest division? I hate to be offensive but HW is definitely the least athletic looking division. Damn near every fighter looks like they could drop about 20 pounds.

He's the only 20 something HW that has any kind of talent at all. He probably will be champion eventually... There's going to be nobody for him to compete against.

His hands are shite. He will be butchered on the feet against guys like Stipe or DC who know how to stuff a takedown.
Crazy that he was suppose to be what Ngannou became just because of one big shot. He was the favorite in that fight and took him down. I say they do a rematch between them.

Dude is legit... and in a few years. He might be close to being a complete fighter... Plus. the wrestling of Cormier will be retired.

Blaydes will probably be champ at some point in his career imo. He's still really young, improving too. He fucking dominated Overeem with his wrestling, no one has done that in years besides Stipe.

He seems to be constantly evolving and improving so if he continues on this path, he would be a skilled champ! Solid wrestling and improved striking!

The next few years?

That's a lot of damn time for someone to improve and it isn't like he's a bad fighter to begin with. Blaydes is a beast.

So no, it wouldn't prove anything other than he worked hard for it if he accomplished that.

The guy has a great wrestling skill set. There's no shame in him becoming HW champion. But the division is indeed weak because of lack of talent and aging legends. It has no connection to Blaydes tho.

If Greg Hardy wins the title in the next few years, then that proves how weak the hw division is....or atleast how over rated skills are in comparison to sheer athletiscm. There aren't very many other divisions where a guy can come in with no martial arts experience and do well with in a few years.
