There is literally nothing about him that suggests he wouldn't make a great Bond except for his skin color. I've always said the people who whine about stuff like this and about SJW's are often the flip side of the same coin as SJW's in that they whine just as much just about the opposite stuff. They are typically very sad and pathetic people.

The real question of course is whether they could pull a great script / project together. The franchise has kind of slid into shitty action schlock lately, more Fast & Furious than Ian Fleming.

This is all that matters. I enjoyed Craigs Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace but after that they were all kind of shitty.

If they rebooted the franchise, scrapping its legacy and starting from blank, then they could have cast a black actor to play Bond, but they don't do that with Bond films and in that scenario casting a black Bond is idiotic.

Idris is a quality actor. If he gets the Bond role, are they going to change his history as well? From a Scottish Father and Swiss mother too Wakandan?

That is the question I was thinking. I could see it if James Bond is just a code name for whomever is 007 kind of like how every CIA agent in "The A Team" was named Lynch. As far as someone saying he's too big, Bond in the books was a pretty big dude. Hence why Connery was so good as the original.
The main problem with Elba is I think he's too established and has the mane recognition, they should stick to getting people about to break out regardless of skin color or whatever.

I think he'd make a great Bond too, but since his inception and the many decades since, he's been white and male, I don't want to see that change. I'd rather they make Idris a different agent, and breath new life into the series with a spinoff, along the lines of Miles Morales. I never understood why that got so much flack, it wasn't like they made Peter Parker black.
