I don't think it was better than Blade Runner 2049.
Unfortunately Dune, that as a book was stupendously layered and complex, as a movie is anything but. it's a straightforward hero journey trope, with amazing visuals, and so-and-so acting. it's like imagining the best meal you can ever have and then getting a picture of it. sure it looks good, but you're not sensing the flavors, the aromas, the textures. that's how Dune feels - like a picture of the Dune book.

Very well explained. To be more blunt about it. This is just a flashy superficial action flick , Jesus like saviour story (near the only action movies Hollywood seems to do) were all the context and actual meaning is loosely hinted at to create a backstory. No Landsraad , no water empire..etc.

Villeneuve is Riefenstahl like aesthetics and small potions of hinted at context without any actual depth.

Was good but soundtrack was horrible and lacked spiritual vibe of dune

80s version had the spiritual side of dune right and soundtrack was awesome
