How many UFC divisions are so abysmally shallow you can get to a title shot with zero ground game?

You only need a pulse to get a shot at the women’s 145 belt.

In the WMMA and flyweight you only need a 1 fight win streak after winning some random prelim fight to get a title shot.

HW has just got worse and worse and worse. Dan Severn at 55 years old would still beat many of them, I'm not saying Stipe and Cain and guys like that.. but Dan could beat guys like Walt Harris and Chase Sherman lol, he would take them down easily and they would never be able to stop it, would probably tap them out rather easily .

LHW is so bad, its down the the bare bones, it used to be the best division back 10 years ago. Volkan would never have made it to UFC back in 2005, but he could have been one of the jobbers that were brought into Pride to have a random fight with Hidehiko Yoshida and then never be seen again

No he fucking couldn't. Do you realize how many of Dan Severns fights are works ? Dan Severn has losses to a bunch of tomato cans. Walt Harris would MURK Dan Severn. You've obviously never seen a recent Dan Severn fight, even when he was fighting in the regional circuit he was not that good.

UFC-220 showed us there are at least 2 UFC divisions based on talent pools with less depth than a kiddie pool.

Any others?

(In b4 Conor)

Evolution my friend, it only appears that Ngannou has no grappling technique because Stipe is so good, in reality he's have subbed Nog easily back in the unevolved day.

Seriously though at HW especially there is clearly a lack of good offensive grappling these days, even someone like Werdum doesn't have the wrestling to use it much and is more a sdtandup fighter now. Stipe and Cain(if he ever comes back in

MMA as a whole is pretty shit. One reason- the UFC. If MMA was sanctioned like boxing you'd have more fighters as a whole.

But because the UFC is run the way it is, it limits the amount of actual new talent.

There's roughly 18000 active, male, pro boxers. How many guys in the UFC?

There isn't as much grappling in UFC as there used to be. Most takedowns are short lived and they get right back to their feet. But it comes full circle. In the late 90s ground fighting was more prominent and it seemed like most wanted wrestle like Severn or Coleman or be the next Royce Gracie. Now we are in a kickboxing phase.

NGannou ground game isn't great but it was cardio that was really problem. He was so gassed by round 2 that I could have taken him down ... and I've never even wrestled.
One thing that is incredibly shocking is how the biggest most powerful guys can turn into the weakest human beings so quickly after fatigue sets in. Makes you realize how scary Brock Lesnar was because he was a monster that didn't gas.

Volkan was abysmal on the ground. Clearly not ready for Cormier on top.

Miocic and Ngannou was terrible because both guys had adrenaline dumps in the first round and it is basically impossible for a HW to come back from that. So both guys looks like shit for 3 rounds.

We know Miocic can fight 5 rounds, as he has done it before; Ngannou can also do better than that on the ground, but no one can do anything when they are that tired.

That's becauae Dana fired elite grapplers and punished a grappling-oriented gameplan.

I get a feeling that the "Only HW and LHW" posters are all up on Colin's nuts.

Connie got not one but two title shots with no ground game. Got to skip edgar at FW and step over khabib at LW. Dude's totally manufactured champion and now ducking two wrestlers at top of his division for two years now.

Worst thing is they are gonna make these two monsters fight each other instead of the clown

Severn is 59, bruh. Definitely check out the “Where Are They Now?” feature the UFC did for him; such a man!
