For Boxing experts only: Should Floyd be penalized for turning his back to opponents?

Floyd seemed to be hurt in the 9th from that "low blow" at the opening bell, Did McG catch him with a body shot?

(I've always believed that the referee and judges would always favour Floyd. It's still a bitch to deal with.)

Yes, according to George Foreman...

In his recent interview at the Obviously Fight Talk podcast, the boxing Hall-of-Famer even believes McGregor was able to hurt Mayweather with a body shot, until referee Richard Byrd intervened.

“The referee protected Mayweather in one of the last rounds,” Foreman said. Conor hurt him. “He had him hurt, and was going for the finish and the referee stepped in for no reason at all and stopped it. It was a vicious body punch.”

“Conor had him with a good body shot and the referee saved him.”

You got jokes.

The fact someone famous said it does not make it true.

The truth is Connor hit Floyd low then got him in the corner and took his back for the 50th time in the fight. So it was not the ref pulling Connor away while he was fighting. The ref was breaking an ass backwards clinch yet again, not breaking up any kind of action at all. Once the ref broke the clinch he warned Connor for the low blow and then Connor got punched is his fucking face for 2 rounds straight until the ref saved him.

Facts are facts no matter and you can't argue with clear video evidence that we have all seen no matter how many idiots you pile on top of this conspiracy bullshit.

Even here on the "boxing" forums the size of the guy and how TST he looks seems to be 50% or more of how good a fighter they are. It's like everyone pretends they are hardcore but is really just duplicating casual opinions anyway.

UFC isn't dead.
Boxing isn't dead.
Intelligent people is dead!
Stick around and post some more, youll find out who knows what they're talking about and who's frantically using boxrec very quickly. One guy who used to post here totally plagiarised @Sharkey and tucked tail and ran because he got called on it. You know there's a ton of people all over the site who want to just troll and bump their post count.

Size matters at heavyweight. Refs don't tend to call fouls on leaning on someone's back.

Reach tends to dictate your style, no point in staying in the pocket if you're arms are like Ricky Hatton.

Intelligent discussion is there, you just have to know where to look.

Be wasn't turning his back. He just stayed still, shelled up and Conor would move around him. Maybe he may have turned his feet slightly, but not turned fully.

It may have been a strategy by McGregor to do it, or once he got tired went back to mma habits, but it was weird.

And TS. Turning your back in boxing is risky. It is a foul and if the ref deems it to be turning away from punches, it can be a DQ.

For boxing casuals: should conor have been penalized for repeated hammerfists to the back of floyd's dome?

There was probably a clause where if mcgregor got dq or did an illegal mma non boxing move mayweather would get an even bigger chunk of the money. He was probably hoping McGregor got confused and started doing some weird shit

I read that it was something like 90% loss of his purse if he does any MMA foul

No.
But Conor should have just backed off and have the advantage of better position instead of trying butt hug him.
Inexperience.

this is irrelevant because floyd should have been penalized for repeatedly turning away waiting for the ref to save him, removing opportunities to get smashed in the back of the head.

To answer the question, turning your back on your opponent is not allowed. I think floyd sometimes treads a line with this.

Ducking the head below waist height is also not allowed iirc. Floyd definitely does this.

Floyd pushes the rules alot which is fine. Trying to get away with as much as the referee allows is understandable. The refs should be pulling him up on it though.

Floyd should be penalized for robbing millions of retards into thinking this was a competitive fights

Think how quick Floyd would have stopped him if Conor hadn't shown he can flap his arms about.

"Someone famous", lol I can't think of a better authority on boxing than GF. The punch hit the belt and from the refs angle, there is no way he could have know exactly if it was low. Just goes to show what Conor would do to McGregor in a k-1 match.

Too bad k-1 is based mostly on hw tournaments, not a fit for mcMunchkin

Exactly.

Conor>McGregor.

Looked more like Floyd shelled up and Conor was jumping to his back on impulse or something. But at the same time if Floyd should have been penalized then Conor should have been penalized for hammerfists at the top of the head. Ref was giving leeway cause he knew these were two different sports trying to mesh.
