The Fly is a good sci-fi/horror movie.

Probably Bill & Ted. Both are classics though.

Blade Runner vs Alien

Alien

Fright Night (1985) vs Fright Night (2011)

Titanic

The Thing (original) vs The The Matrix

As in the 50's version of The Thing? Damn that's hard. I think I'll go with The Matrix.

Early Ben Stiller, like Adam Sandler,
for me.... is a guilty, filthy pleasure.

Ran vs The Master

I really liked The Master, a really intresting take on the start of scientology. They could easily have made Hubbard a mockable figure but instead they played it seriously and explored how a highly-skilled manipulator can create cults like he did. But... it's freaking Kurisawa man. And Ran is his most nillististic work.

The Street Fighter vs Kung Fu Hustle

Kung Fu Hustle was tasteful.
It's difficult to pull off a truly good
equal action/equal comedy movie.

So many American action movies
from the eighties were accidentally
comical, but that's not ever why they
may have been considered "good films."
The Street Fighter was cool, but it was
ridiculous, like most grindhouse style
movies, for me.

I agree about Ran. It's my favorite
from him. And I fucking hate Shakespeare.
I revisit the movie, and find different and
new things to appreciate about it. But the
beauty of how it's filmed is always what
captures me. The imagery and colors are
incredibly powerful.

I actually was indifferent about the Master.
I just watched it recently. I love PT
Anderson, but this wasn't as interpersonal
of a display of character as his other films.
Which is why I appreciate him so much.

The Master enticed a personal exploration
of juxtaposing the film's interesting
perspective of a manipulative individual
or individuals or even, ideologies... and
their influence on highly manipulatable
people... and how it speaks on society
today, and likely, throughout history.
Especially of an elitist, segregated,
spiritually bereft culmination of non
thinkers, acclimated to obedience.
They seem to be at high susceptibility
due to a life of substance abuse,
boredom, privilege and not truly being
challenged or tested in any way...
perhaps most detrimentally, challenges
related to personal stability or faith

edit: my bad about botching the rules
and interrupting the flow with my ranting.
lol i had been ruminating over a thought

The Toy. Though it's more a matter of Toys being worse than The Toy being better.

Sanjuro vs Yojimbo

Yojimbo by default. It had a fantastic
plot. And I thought it was pretty damn
hilarious.

I think Sanjuro might be my favorite
of the two, however. Simply because I
am a sucker for conclusions.

Menace II Society vs Boyz N The Hood
