Extreme swamp draining underway: ex- Goldman-Sachs CEO Gary Cohn rumored for fed chair

They dont have absolute protection, they are obligated by law in their purpose.

And Trump doesnt decides whether something remains law or not, thats what Congress is for.

So was Hillary Clinton; yet I can't even count how many times she breached that trust and got away with it even out in open. It's what they call 'elite immunity'.

The political system has become legally bankrupt, they don't even always co-operate with Congress and comply with orders of evidence anymore.

who do people want for these positions that wouldnt be considered part of the swamp?

retired business people?
lifelong politicians?

feel like the only ones people wouldnt complain about are academics who have never done shit in the real world

even if he hired business people who werent successful enough to make positions like goldmans CEO, they would just be called unqualified

"Speculation is building on Wall Street that a likely replacement to run the central bank would be Gary Cohn, director of the National Economic Council and Trump's closest economic advisor.
"The buzz among those who claim Cohn confides in them is that he would like to eventually replace" Yellen, assuming Trump decides to move in a different direction when the chair's term ends in early February, Beacon Policy Advisors said in its daily report for clients Tuesday

Personally, I think he'll just keep Yellen.

Also, additional information especially relevant for sherbros, from an older article:
Explain why this is so bad and what you think the fallout is going to be because of it.

who do people want for these positions that wouldnt be considered part of the swamp?
Illegal immigrants and transgenders. Maybe Obama.

People that dont have large fortunes on finances and whose insider knowledge would make them even richer than before.

so knowing finance well enough to make a bunch of money, excludes you from being a candidate

success is a negative

I'm actually not sure what people want and why, I think that's a fair question.
I've seen those Libertarians who absolutely hate the federal reserve advocate some Austrian lunatics as fed chair because they also hate the fed but appointing people who don't like an agency to this agency probably changes nothing and in this particular case it would be a disaster methinks.

Glenn Hubbard or Kevin Warsh were mentioned previously. I think at least the former is more of an academic with experience as an advisor to government rather than a typical Goldman-Sachs crony.

Thomas Hoenig would have been somebody with experience and more critical of the fed without being an Austrian destroy-the-fed hawk.

I think there certainly were better choices than a former Goldman-Sachs CEO ;)
But that's all extremely hypothetical, maybe he keeps Yellen.

Why not make El Chapo head of the DEA? im pretty sure that he knows more about the Drug trade than anyone in America.

Success is a negative there too?

Trump is champion of the middle class.
Trump is playing 4 D chess. He is adding more alligators to swamp before he drains it.
If the swamp bottom was made up of pussy, Trump would have drained it day 1.
*16 D interdimensional ball in a cup.

????

are you really making that comparison

gary cohn isnt a criminal, hes just rich. he didnt get rich by circumventing the fed, he got rich by understanding the system.

a better comparison would be making el chapo the head of your meth ring

You mean playing the system, he was one of the guys responsible for the economic meltdown, lost a shitload of money from investors and escaped in a golden parachute.

And these guys arent criminals because they have politicians in their pockets.

That would be like electing president someone who was over a billion dollars in debt and used a company to buy his personal debt and have the investors take the loss.

Oh wait...

Explain why this is so bad and what you think the fallout is going to be because of it.
It's bad because his base will/should see it as some sort of betrayal.
He was running on an anti-Wallstreet, anti-cronyism and pro "drain the swamp!" platform.
Appointing a former Goldman-Sachs CEO and Wallstreet insider to the head of our central banking system couldn't be further away from that.

pffftt.... Are you serious? Again, draining the swamp didn't mean he was going to fire everyone in gov't and hire complete unknowns to do jobs.

"Lol dum libz daddy Trump just being a politician #maga" - some WR poster

Oh Jsnake, you really have no idea what you're talking about.

Like this this @lecter guy, seems pro trump but still calls it like it is, any trump fan asking what the issue is with having a GS guy as the FC should thank the lord cognitive dissonance is not painful.

No but it means not hiring obvious insiders with massive conflicts of interests. If u don't see the issue with having a former GS head as the fed chairman then that's fine but to not see why it contradicts Trump anti establishment drain the swamp message is asinine. This really does not need to be explained to you.

I'm not losing sleep over it.

"Oh no, Trump has hired a competent, successful man to work for him! Outrageous!"
