Nope. Royce had shitty wrestling and TDD and often found himself on his back against even just halfway decent wrestlers like Shamrock. He was more of "gracie guard fight off my back type" of grappler. Maia is totally different and likes to keep position and go for the rear mount.

Wrong, this is a common misconception. Royce won 15 fights with 13 finishes, 9 of which were from mount or top position!

While Maia's pressure game is more effective and rendered him 6 victories against great competition.
