Or St-Pierre could lose against Bisping, McGregor could lose to Ferguson, and they'll just set up St-Pierre-McGregor ASAP while both still have some value attached to their name.

That's the most likely option. Hell, even an Anderson/GSP matchup if Whittaker is still injured and vintage Anderson shows up against Gastellum.

When it comes to the big names in the UFC, the inmates are running the asylum.

Dana maintains his iron-like grip over anyone not into that upper echelon, but has to pretend he can still bully the elite stars.

Bottom line, if GSP and Conor want to fight, then you can bank on it... but I suspect there are other opportunities for each of them, so it is unlikely they will be on the same page.. Conor vs Nate is probably the bigger payday regardless,.
