Comedians that you just don't get why people think they are funny

FAR too many to list. Cancel/doxing drama killed most edgy humor.

what comedians DO you like?
Chappelle, Patrice and Chris Rock are my top three. I would say that Patrice and Chris Rock had funnier stand up specials than Dave but Dave had way more material.

Other guys I like but to a lesser degree. Louis CK, Jeff Ross, Nick Diapolo, Greg Giraldo, Godfrey, Katt Williams, Bill Burr, George Lopez. Some of these guys I liked but they kinda went off the rails in their later years or their material just started to get a lot weaker.

New comedians I like right now are David Lucas, Andrew Schulz and another guy named Cody Woods.

There's also a bunch of guy's I can list who are funny in movies and shows and stuff like that but not really stand up

Nobody has ever claimed Rogan's standup is funny, AFAIK.
Lots of people have been going to his standup forever. I saw him in 2012 and only knew him from the podcast and UFC, I had no idea what his comedy would be. We took a bathroom break during the show and Joey Diaz was sitting alone in the lobby looking high out of his mind. We said hi and he smiled and said what's up cocksuckas then started laughing

Rogan was one of many up-and-coming edgy comedians in the 80's/90's. And his comedic street probably peaked back then. He caught a huge break with Spin City, was able to parlay that into Fear Factor, simeltaneously becoming the voice of the UFC at a time when mma was getting hot, then really become a true household name with the success of his podcast. The dude simply can't lose, and deserves all of the credit for his own successes.

Having said that, when reviewing his standup act, as it exists since he gained fame in other venues, one has to question how successful his standup would be, without those other factors, and how people are actually genuine fans of his standup. I haven't encountered many.

I enjoy Rogan's podcast and UFC commentary but don't enjoy his stand up
I seriously doubt he would have made it as a comedian alone. He seems to know it too. If you listen to him interview other comedians like Burr or Chapelle its like he's constantly reassuring himself that he's "one of them".

Wtf? Pryor is one of the goats

For me it's ( off the top of the head)

Dane cook
Any schumer
Jeff Dunham
Larry the cable guy

Hot take: I don't think Patrice O'Neal's stand up is that funny. He keeps being mentioned as one of the GOATS due to him roasting everyone in media appearances and saying edgy shit. But his actual standup is meh IMO.

Louis CK is the shit. Dice Clay, Chappelle, Burr, etc.

I think it's hard to have consistently good material forever though. Yea Shane Gillis is the man of the moment but will he still be good 10 years, 20 years from now?

David Spade. I never found him funny ever in my life and yet he is still getting gigs. From time to time my local casinos host his comedy shows and they always freaking stink
