Chinese Money really flows, wasn't there an article how Chinese investment has creep in to Hollywood studios? It won't be long till they influence film making portraying the Chinese model of government as some viable alternative to US hegemony.

However in this article the author seems to downplay the possible effects of Chinese investment in the Movie industry but still this shows the extent they are willing to compete against the US and the West.

They are really playing the long game Sun Tzu's Art of War style . "Politicians can be bribed".

This is a very dumb statement by the Chinese officials and really is contrary to their proposed business model and interest Chinese President Xi a few months ago gave a speech in that he promises the that China will protect free trade among nations and its mission to increase productivity in the region and if not the whole world.

This leads me to believe that President Xi does not have the full political control over the military as their Military expansionism in the South China sea like setting up restrictive "identification zones" which obligates merchant shipping to abide by is in reality potentially disastrous to their economy if even a minor conflict arises.

China’s massive foreign influence campaign in the United States takes a long view, sowing seeds in American institutions meant to blossom over years or even decades. That’s why the problem of Chinese financial infusions into U.S. higher education is so difficult to grasp and so crucial to combat.

At last, the community of U.S. officials, lawmakers and academics focused on resisting Chinese efforts to subvert free societies is beginning to respond to Beijing’s presence on America’s campuses. One part of that is compelling public and private universities to reconsider hosting Confucius Institutes, the Chinese government-sponsored outposts of culture and language training.

With more than 100 universities in the United States now in direct partnership with the Chinese government through Confucius Institutes, the U.S. intelligence community is warning about their potential as spying outposts. But the more important challenge is the threat the institutes pose to the ability of the next generation of American leaders to learn, think and speak about realities in China and the true nature of the Communist Party regime.

FBI Director Christopher A. Wray articulated those concerns in testimony last week before the Senate Intelligence Committee. He said the FBI is “watching warily” and even investigating some Confucius Institutes. He said “naivete” in the academic sector was exacerbating the problem and called out the Chinese government for planting spies in American schools.

“They’re exploiting the very open research and development environment that we have, which we all revere. But they’re taking advantage of it,” Wray said.

The plot thickens

TORONTO -- - A former Canadian diplomat has been detained while visiting Beijing amid a dispute between the two counties over Canada's arrest of a Chinese executive at the request of the United States. Canadian Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale confirmed Michael Kovrig's detention Tuesday and said Canada is very concerned.

"We're deeply concerned," Goodale said in response to a question about Kovrig. "A Canadian is obviously in difficulty in China ... We are sparing no effort to do everything we possibly can to look after his safety."

His detention came after China warned Canada of consequences for its recent arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou at Vancouver's airport. Goodale said there is no explicit indication at this point that it's related to the Meng arrest, but said Canada's Global Affairs department would have more to say

Wonder if Canada cucks out. They shouldn't because then China will be emboldened and become more aggressive.
Justin can't cuck because he can't force the judiciary to do his bidding. I'm surprised he allowed his minister of justice to proceed with arresting the Huawei executive. He had to know it's going to end badly either way.

It defo wouldn't hurt to keep critical industries locked down and at this point I couldn't give a fuck less about fair global competition. Every dirty tool and trick in the book is on the table now. It's almost impossible for China to realistically surpass the US technologically or militarily if that happens, and they're also fundamentally more vulnerable as a sovereign entity.

The West helping China with technology and enabling its export manufacturing was/is a huge mistake, because we see how imperialistic China is now. They are operating a lot like Colonial Europeans, sans blatantly invading and settling overseas territories, though they are trying to claim all of the South China Sea and settling/conquering Xinjiang , Tibet and have tried to take territory from India.

They are putting poor 3rd world countries into debt traps, which is partly China's fault and partly the fault of autocrats in the 3rd world nations.

China wants to rule the world, which is very bad news for nations close to it, and just bad in general not just because any 1 ethnic group ruling the world is bad but also because they are totalitarian within their own country.
