Bizarre Cases of the missing and murdered

That Stonehenge story is bugged out. Legend has it that the druids understood the gateways and that walking between the gateway Trilithon could make someone disappear to the land of Sidhe. Maybe that's where those hippies unintentionally ended up lol.

Some of the other stories ITT are just disturbing.

The Christopher Wallace murder...

I'd give my left testicle to know what exactly happened at Dyatlov Pass.

avalanche +hypothermia+ dead bodies partially eaten by animals
im waiting......

Was watching that Elisa Lam videos. Anyone heard of that elevator ritual before??

Elizabeth short.

I'd recommend reading "Severed"

I have a hard time thinking of anyone that can top the Zodiac.
If anyone has a chance of getting the audiobook, I'd highly recommend it.
The reader does a great job and the whole story is insane.

The story of two Dutch girls, Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon, who went hiking in Panama. I'm not sure why it seemed like a good idea for two girls to go hiking in a Panamanian jungle but that's what they did and never came out alive. The story just get more and more weird the more you read. Some people believe they were killed by wildlife but the details of the story seem to indicate they were abducted and killed.

Here is a pic of the girls.

These pics was taken just a couple hours before whatever happened.

I found a site with a pretty thorough breakdown of the events including the recovery of their bodies, weird photos that were taken, 911 calls that were made in the middle of the jungle, etc. The post at the following link is long but it gives many of the details associated with the case including finding one of the girls shoes, with the foot still inside.

Don't start reading it unless you want to get sucked into it until the end because the details are like something out of a movie. Its long but a good read. The photos above, which are just a few of the ones taken, look like the beginning of a Blair Witch movie.

Maura Murray's disappearance is one that's always intrigued me.

Just finished reading it, definitely a good read. I hope it gets solved some day.

The investigation was botched at every level, they finally concluded that the girls were killed by wildlife, or fell in a river but if you take into account the presence of lye/lime, all the 911 calls days after they disappeared, the fact that they didn't turn back but rather went much further away, the backpack being found with both bras and other personal items near the foot in the shoe, etc.

They were murdered by a maniac but I don't even want to know how that went down, it was probably horrific. It wasn't too smart for two girls to be trapesing around in a jungle in Panama, geez, talk about a bad decision. There were also photos of them at a party before the went missing, the killers may be in that photo.

It's definitely chilling thinking about it, especially the caption in that photo with the families and the dog and mentions how the dog might be the only one to know what actually happened...

Anyone remember the Circleville Writer?

Someone had been sending creepy ass letters in the typical serial killer looking handwriting with personal information about their lives. One of the letters sent to this woman detailed an affair she supposedly had with a school superintendent. The writer basically said I know you have kids, I know where you live and bad things are going to happen if you don't admit the affair to the school board.

One day the womans husband received a phone call and went berzerk. He grabbed a gun and took off in his car. He was found later with his car wrapped around a tree and one shot had been fired from his gun. The cops called it a drunk driving accident and soon after the writer started writing about a police coverup involving the death.

Afterward the wife and superintendent admitted their affair but they claimed it only started after the letters began. Who the hell did they think they were fooling? Anyway, the letters continued on for years after. The woman was a bus driver and she started seeing signs posted up along her route with harassing messages. Either her or someone drove by at some point and saw a guy in an El Camino setting one of the signs up. One day she stopped and went to rip the sign down when it was actually a gun in a box with a string attached to the trigger that was supposed to blow her head off upon removing the sign. The booby trap didn't work and her life was spared.

The cops showed up and noticed the guns serial number had been ground off but they were able to get enough of it to realize it was registered to her brother in law. He claimed the gun had gone missing a while back. They arrested him on the gun evidence and some inconclusive hand writing evidence when compared to the letters. He ended up getting convicted and sent to prison.

Everyone thought that was it but while he was locked away, the letters kept coming and they weren't postmarked from anywhere near his prison. The warden put him in solitary and the letters still kept coming. He even received some sort of letter that made it seem as if he was in cahoots with the writer. After 10 or 15 years he got out of prison and never admitted being the writer. The writer has never been caught.

Holy shit! I'd never heard of this until now.

I don't know what to make of this story, was a great read. A few points I can make though...having been to Panama, but not Boquete....

- Its not uncommon for young women, even alone, to do jungle hikes in these type of countries, its perhaps the most popular activity for backpackers there. They usually come back just fine.

- The photo taken of them with lots of dudes - this was taken in Bocas del Toro, a haven for backpackers, I spent 1 week there. This just looks like a typical hostel scenario, lots of people socialising. If guys they met there accompanied them to Boquete, I'd imagine that's the first thing the police would've looked into - police in these countries prefer pointing the finger at foreigners rather than investigating locals.

It does seem like murder but it's a weird one. Surely, if you've abducted, murdered and dismembered two women, you don't return their belongings to the scene of the abduction. That's just asking for trouble, if you're trying to cover your tracks, why not just burn them? I'm also very dubious about the wildlife claims - the only animal capable of killing and eating two young women would be a big cat, and there'd be blood and guts everywhere, it'd look like a kill-zone.

Well, here is the thing. The backpack of belongings and the shoe with the foot still in it was found at a distance estimated to be 12 hours away. The 911 calls make it even more unlikely that it was an animal attack because they occurred for days. Had they been attacked and killed there would be no 911 calls. If only one of them was attacked, why didn't the other just go back and get help? The series of photos 8 days after they went missing is also strange.

Check out this map of where they found the backpacks and bones. If map is too small to read try this link.
