pre internet, so you couldn't post how much you loved it, and I couldn't reply with, ''I do too'', so many fans had their genuine opinions altered by shit reviews, from one or two metal mag journos who had Anthrax issues, the opposite happened to Metallica, I recall more that once reading/being told Lars was the greatest drummer in metal {kirk got the same praise for guitar}

{I actually don't think my choice in the 13 is a bad album either , but so many pretentious twats, who wrote reviews for a living, seemed to enjoy pissing all over it.}

I love the album, but it was panned by a lot of people.

It's a rare album I can play through and not think about skipping filler tracks. I can see why metal fans don't like it: solid and consistent, best singing out of the Big 4. If you want to compare it to other metal attempts to "mature" their sound, it's a lot better than Load/Reload, or Risk.
