Are there any ACTUAL Conor fans?

Khabib/Tony could literally treat McTapsalot the way Randy did Tony.

Ankle pic, submission. 30 seconds first round. He doesn't stand a chance. Casual.

khabib would maul conor, absolutely.

putting Ferg in that same category makes you the casual, friend.

Haters desperate to try to convince themselves that Conor's fans are all "casuals" and "n00bs".

That's not how things are though.

I think Tony is very chinney and hittable. Has sloppy volume striking that can be countered and timed. I believe Conor hits him one clean time and it changes the course of he fight. Once that happens it's panic mode for 90% of his opponents.

Khabib is a wrestling specialist but he also is very amateurish when it comes to strikes as shown in the MJ fight. Sure once Khabib got his hands on MJ the fight completely changed but all McGregor needs to do is hit you clean once and you start making bad decisions. Do I think Khabib takes McGregor down? Yes. Do I think he controls him like he did MJ? No. Just like how people thought Eddie would wall and stall McGregor on the cage like he did Pettis and he couldn't do it. McGregor is very good at hand fighting and striking you from odd angles. Khabib has never fought a guy like McGregor and vice versa. I lean towards the guy who claimed he was going to return from ACL knee reconstruction a better fighter and not the guy who cried about retirement because of a knee injury (seems like knee injuries are all the rave at AKA).

Conor McGregor has no chance against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing match. This is entertainment and most importantly a money grab. Most money an MMA fighter will make in one night of work. As long as McGregor doesn't get KO'd I'd say that's a win-win situation for him. I remember Canelo taking one or two rounds from Floyd so Conor being white washed isn't that embarrassing considering the success or lack there of Floyd's past opponents.

Happy now?
Again. This will look like Couture vs. Tony. 1 takedown by Khabib(which will come seconds into the 1st round) and its time for McTapper to tap again.

I wouldn't be surprise if McTapper beats his own record of tapping out in 36 seconds this time around. With some practice he will probably tap out in 24 this time around.

Can't believe you had the balls to say some stupid shit like that lmao. Good for you bud, standing up for your fellow casual dorks like that.

If Conor loses to Floyd in a boxing match, my enjoyment of his MMA fights will remain unimpeded. I stayed a fan after his embarrassing loss to Nate. Losing to the greatest boxer of his generation in a boxing match means nothing.

On topic, yes there are loads of Conor fans TS. I like Conor a lot. He is not my favourite fighter and not a perfect human being by any stretch. But he's exciting, works hard, fights regularly, pushes boundaries and takes risks. He's a great fighter even if he isn't the best ever and has some flaws in his game.

There's nothing wrong with anything you said...

You sound normal and rational...

I'm glad you like him as a fighter. Enjoy watching Conor fight...

I will as well, albeit, criticizing him any time I feel he's out of line.

Tony can without a doubt submit McBlue belt in an instant without much difficulty. He has 9 ko's and 8 subs dude he is damn near 50/50. Nobody Conor has beat has the same sub game really. Except Nate....who submitted him.

Mendes is a good grappler but doesn't submit many people. Same can be said about most of his opponents. Tony can easily D'arce this guy within a round. And has the striking to do more than survive.

"Conor GOAT" talk started in before the Poirer fight.

I remember hearing about him on MiddleEasy.com after his title victories and they had described him as "The Irish Diaz Bro" so I was immediately interested lol. I remember hearing he had signed to the UFC too. I was pissed when I eventually realized I missed his debut on the prelims and only heard about it because of his post-fight interview.

After going back and watching it I remember being incredibly impressed. I loved how he had no fear and sat right in the pocket vs Brimage and tore him up with uppercuts. I'm sure everyone says this, but I swear to god I knew then that he would be really good. I even told my cousin. Then realizing he was super into the law of attraction, which I'm interested in, I became a legit fan.

Known about Conor for about 4 years.

Favorite fighter is GSP.

Was actually a fan of Aldo until all the recent bitching and moaning.

Saw the rise and fall of Chuck Liddell. I actually remember the night where his quest to avenge every loss on his record was put to rest. All he needed to do was beat Rampage and he couldn't. Would have been a hell of a story to look back on. Never saw Liddell fight in Pride but that's around the time I started getting into MMA.

I remember the Fedor comeback against Arlo and his flash KO of Rodgers.

Remember GSP making BJ Penn quit after he said he would kill Georges in the cage.

Just because Conor McGregor is the most interesting thing in MMA today doesn't mean we aren't educated/long time fans. You just can't accept that one can be a McGregor fan and hardcore fan at the same time.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be a McGregor denier at this point lol must really suck.

Excellent post

That is hysterical in hindsight man

I'm a Colin fan and not really into MMA.

Deal with it, dork.

I've been watching since the first UFC, and am a huge Conor fan. He brings back a level of excitement to the fight game that I've rarely felt in the last few years.

He's a fighter. If he's fighting and doing a good job of it, that's good. He isn't hurting anyone badly or abusing people physically or using substances to improve his performance that we know of.

Ultimately I want to see good fighters

Been here for 9 years and I am a huge Conor fan.

I would actually question any MMA fan who at the very least doesn't enjoy watching Conor fight, you don't need to like his personality, but he is one of, if not thee most exciting fighter of all time...

As far as I can see the people that hate him are either just run of the mill haters who just live their lives that way, or the ones who he's proved wrong so many times that it has left a little shamrock shaped scar on their heart...

That's so cute... Is this your online McGregor Fan Club?!?

I'm kidding... but seriously it's really sweet that you have an online band of lovers of McGregor.

Sounds odd seeing as how he is pop culture on Sherdog and in person at bars or hooters. He draws in casuals who have no clue who Chuck Liddel is(much less Fedor).

I forgive casuals at bars because I'm just excited to see people come to support MMA whether they like Conor or whoever.

But within educated MMA individuals/communities. I do mean you, Sherdog. Does he have actual educated fans? We see trolls saying he will KO Floyd/Tony within 30 seconds and Conor bless this and that etc. But it's rare you see actual in depth analysis of WHY he would beat Khabib/Ferg/Woodley. I assume it's because any MMA fan knows that is bullshit. Like how I know Reem/mousasi/Fedor aren't the best today and/or never have been, despite being my top 3 favorites.

TL;DR: Does Conor have any actual fans who have been a fan of MMA for 5+ years? Or only casuals/trolls?
yes, i was not sold at first but i do believe he can beat any 155er or 145er with his timing, speed, and power. is he the best ever.. no. can he beat the best in the division on any given night.. yes. is my join date early enough for you?
