Do you think Khabib can avoid his takedowns? I don't. Size does matter, especially in Grappling. Who is the best grappler/wrestler Khabib has ever competed against in the cage? Maia is much bigger and has competed and had success against much bigger top-notch competition.

Size does matter, but Sambo is as much about takedowns as ground fighting, while BJJ is 10% TD, 90% ground. Khabib's TD offense and defense should be significantly better than Maia's. As for size; Khabib is known to walk around at about 190 iirc...? That's huge. If true, he could fight at WW and still be one of the bigger guys.
As for credentials, Khabib is a multiple time Sambo world champion and has himself competed at the highest levels.
Also, size matters, but Conor, despite being at a disadvantage of about 15-20 lbs, knocked Nate down and soundly outstruck him before gassing.
I would be rooting for Maia, don't get me wrong. I dislike Khabib for a number of reasons, but there's no denying his grappling prowess.
