Adalaide Byrd controversies
When Joe Calzaghe fought Bernard Hopkins for The Ring Magazine light-heavyweight title in 2008, most observers had the British fighter a clear winner - even after he was knocked down in the third.

Judge Chuck Giampa scored the bout 116-111 in favour of Calzaghe, with Ted Gimza recording a 115-112 verdict in favour of the Welsh fighter.

Adalaide Byrd scored the fight 114-113 in favour off Hopkins.

In 2016, at Top Rank executives protested over the appointment of her for the Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters fight.

Top Rank VP of boxing operations Carl Moretti said: “We respectfully requested that Adalaide Byrd not be assigned to this fight.

Byrd, better known as the individual who awarded Melvin Guillard the most bizarre and puzzling scorecard in recent memory -- a 30-27 over Jamie Varner at UFC 155. (For those that forgot, the remaining two judges awarded a 30-27 the opposite way, in a bout that saw Varner dominate Guillard with seven takedowns to zero.)

That scorecard wasn't exactly a fluke either. Byrd has a record of questionable rulings, which leads one to wonder, what exactly does an official need to do to fall out of favor with the NSAC? Particularly when it comes bookings of great significance, like, say, a heavily anticipated title bout featuring a man known for fighting to close decisions?

Regardless, the NSAC's decision is final. So it's probably best if we hope for a finish when both men meet in two weeks, lest we get another controversial Edgar trilogy started up.

They shouldn't let women judge fights, simple.

what does it take to be a judge at that world stage, and what are the benefits from it?

do they get paid shit loads?

Ouch.

I'm with Teddy Atlas on this one. Just makes you feel fucking terrible for GGG.
You never want to be with teddy atlas, particularly when his scorecard bore no resemblance to what happened in the fight.

Yea, she was way out line. Everyone knows that Canelo won by 142-101.

Indeed

Imagine.. The whole preparation to fight a top guy who's way younger than you, 12 busy rounds of fighting in which you were the aggressor in at least 7. Only to hear that it has all been for nothing because of some either hella blind or corrupt judges

Ggg still took it like a man

He could've been the aggressor in 12 and legit lose the fight.
