Well, there are different levels of gatekeeper. There’s UFC gatekeepers, top 15 gatekeepers, top ten gatekeepers, etc.

Cerrone is a title challenger gate keeper; if you beat Cerrone you are likely to have a title shot at some point in the future. If you can’t beat Cerrone, you will almost certainly never fight for the title.

Cerrone gets a ton of respect here. Don’t misconstrue a vocal minority to be the voice of the people.

I have him above Mighty Mouse in my list of Goat contenders. DJ is 0-1 against UFC champions and his only opponent that was good enough to fight for the title at 135 is Benavidez. Cerrone has fought 5 people that were UFC champions, he beat 2 of them, got robbed against Lawler and lost to RDA and Pettis. He's fought much tougher opposition than DJ and then of course there is all the records you just mentioned.
