My pick: Godfather Epic (Part 1 & II in chronological order)

Godfather Epic is my favorite film, period. If I could only own or watch 1 film this would be it.

Starts off with the prequel half of Godfather II with the life and rise of Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro) to becoming Godfather. It's then followed by the original Godfather and ends with the sequel part of Godfather II.

It's the greatest movie of all time imo it's a little over 7 hours combined but well worth the watch. It was originally a tv mini series divided into 4 parts but I prefer the 7 hr cut.

You only get 1 pick out of these franchise combos. Good luck.

I've watched LOTR trilogy more than any movies combined and I'd still agree with you.

I was only going to do 2 movies out of each franchise but figured I'd have some fun with it and pick more than 2 for some. I didn't want to leave LOTR out since you need all 3 movies so I went a little too crazy with it. Either way I'm still taken GF epic. I wish they released it on DVD or digital video.

Oooo, that's brutal. It comes down to Indy, Rocky, BTTF, and Terminator. (Perhaps throw Die Hard in there too)

Freaking brutal choice.

I've never seen THE GODFATHER. I've made it about halfway through it on a couple of occasions but I was bored by it & never finished it. I totally respect that it's a classic & that it's considered one of the best movies ever made but it just didn't appeal to me. In fact, I've never enjoyed any of the Italian mob movies that I've seen. GOODFELLAS, CASINO, DONNIE BRASCO, etc. none of them has appealed to me at all.

If I considered myself a true cinephile I suppose that I'd force myself to finish THE GODFATHER & watch its sequels. But I'm not. For the most part, I watch films that I'm interested in. I have a difficult time sitting through movies that just don't interest me no matter how well they're made. And THE GODFATHER is one of those films. So, therefore, it's unlikely that I'll ever see it.

You won't catch me disparaging it though. Just because I'm not interested in it doesn't mean that it's not a terrific piece of cinematic art. It's just not to my tastes.

I can respect that. For me I can't stop watching and it's something that has my eyes glued to the screen. I'm not a cinephile either but it's the only classic/older film I love and will always watch when it's on. I would try to finish and see how you feel at the end, Pacino's restaurant scene is my favorite scene in film and I believe the ending is the best in film. But of course I'm bias to it.

If you come around and end up liking it then check out Part 2. It's a prequel/sequel combo in 1 movie. A good amount even prefer Part 2 over the original.
