You dont block a headkick with a single arm block

I have seen other MMA fighters do this as well. You dont block a full force head kick with a single arm block.

Lean back, duck, or block with a solid to arm block.

Thats not fair to expect them to know better, he is just a UFC cage fighter while you are a sherdogger!

UFC fighters are still light years behind us Sherdoggers!

He wasn't blocking it. He said he didn't see it. And that his hand just went up as a reflex.

<Fedor23>

Maybe that's true, but I wouldn't put much stock in him remembering anything a quarter second before being knocked out. Maybe he saw it and intentionally blocked the way he did, but he forgot afterward because, you know, he got kicked in the head.

Still think it’s crazy that Fedor was successfully single arm blocking Mirko CroCop left high kicks. . . IF I’m remembering the fight correctly lol
I think Fedor being short helped the kick miss. I think Crocop slipped on a logo during his best opportunity to land it too. Not going to rewatch the fight though :(

Poirier was arrogant on the feet.
he thought he could easily box in a rhythm instead of taking this as a fight.
This is typical Poirier.
When it matters. He overestimates himself and he pays the price.

Anytime there’s a belt on the line or something important Poirer tends to find a way to lose, he’s like Kenny Florian in that regard

He's geared for a philly shell like defence. His hands were up but he tried to roll it in reaction. It's a result.of mainly focusing on Boxing based defence.

A simple Dutch block would've worked in most normal situations. The philly shell like habits caused it this time. It's why kickboxers don't use it more. They're afraid of this happening.

it’s his mindset. the same reason why he always jumps guillotine when he never is successful with it and giving away position.
he overestimates himself.
He goes into fights overestimating himself.

Justin threw a jab and then a cross. Dustin thought the jab is a faint to the cross but a high kick came with it. Usually fighters don't throw a same side kick after a same side punch. Mirko Mark Hunt in K1 or Leon Usman is the same strategy.

But I will email Dustin your advice
