"Supreme Court will consider whether people who regularly smoke pot can legally own guns"

I seriously could not imagine being this fucking stupid, in 2025, to think that people who smoke weed somehow aren't responsible or capable enough to own guns. LOOOOOOOOOOOL

No one is smoking weed and then going on a murderous rampage, that's the alcoholics and people on uppers.
No one is smoking weed and then immediately going to harder drugs and living a life of crime and debauchery, that's the booze people.

Alcohol is the gateway "drug" that fucks people up for life and gets them to do horrible things, yet it's the weed smokers that can't have guns? 😂 😂

Also, suddenly the second amendment doesn't matter anymore? It's invalid for people who smoke weed? That's some mentally crippled logic right there, legit dumb fucks.

Anyone in this day and age who thinks weed is a bad thing, is someone who literally cannot be taken seriously at anything in life. They're lying, or are just stupid, or are being paid to say these things, but in any case it shows how absolutely fucked they are to even consider this.

This has to be on the assumption of partisanship tho, right? i mean, pot is for blacks and hippy types and students (who are all blue haired hamas supporters) and other losers? The people whom they see as their demographic will pound beers and bourbon and whatever but they simply arent.... chilled enough, to be stoners? Also maybe an assumption that weed is an urban thing more than rural, therefore its mostly a 'Democrat thing'?

I mean, I'm not saying they are correct in their assumptions, but I always assume there is some kind of putative class warfare, or assumptions of affecting particular (non-conservative) demographics more than conservative ones.

Reform in the UK trailed a similar line recently, some dude came out and trailed the idea of much tougher sentences around weed. I don't think they remotely realise a huge % of their working class voters smoke weed. I have revelled in telling all the potentail reform voters i know who are also smokers, about it

Does not make sense to me. Being insufferable is not a good reason to ban guns. Most arent but i know plenty of braindead weed smokers. If you ban weed users from owning guns how can people that drink have guns? Alcohol is linked to a lot of deaths traffic wise and other crimes.

Just look up US vs Hemani for why this story keeps coming up. SCOTUS ruling in US v. Hemani is gonna be a landmark test of the 2nd amendment -- it's all the post Breun shit (look up bruen decision if ya got no idea)

The central CORE question (bullshit) is whether the government can prohibit/deny firearm possession solely because a person is classified as an “unlawful user” of a controlled substance -- or whether the constitution requires evidence of real impairment or immediate danger when the firearm is held. -- It's a slippery fuckin' slope for rights.

If the 5th circuits reasoning holds (in this case), Hemani could establish a clear distinction between conduct and condition -- the government can "penalize" criminal actions or the act of carrying a firearm while intoxicated, but it cant fuckin revoke citizen rights based solely on past/private behavior unrelated to firearm mis-use. (I think I phrased that correctly, lol) -- A decision like that would reinforce what most of us pro-2nd already believe and say every fuckin' day lol....

The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental individual right -- not some fucking conditional privilege subject to disfavor (bullshit) in Washington. ;)

But yeah, this outcome tells us whether 2nd protects people or only those who fit up the ass of the government definition of the “law-abiding” -- Hopefully it all goes NOWHERE and FAST -- Not really sure what part of "shall not be infringed" these dipshits don't understand in matters like this...

Even as someone who's recently stopped smoking weed after nearly 20 years, this is fucking retarded. The cultural indifference to alcohol vs lack of indifference to other things that are demonstrably less socially deleterious than alcohol is one of the most retarded things I see in the general sentiment in the US/UK.

I cannot even imagine the furore if gun owners were regularly tested for alcohol and had their ownership rights rescinded if they tested positive. Would be like kicking a hornets nest...

Maybe a professional mental state assessment prior to purchase would help? If one's looney or braindead, who really cares is it from smoking, drug abuse or drinking?

I dont know how it works in the US but in my country cant be a ex felon or have certain mental conditions. But your right it doesnt matter only certain conditions can be made worse by weed. Like any that make people have Hallucinations can be made a lot worse.

kidding aside a lot of people get mad ripped and do all sorts of crazy shyt, tho i dont think it is the cause the wild behavior (surfers, snowboarders, nick diaz etc).

im sure gang bangers get mad ripped before rolling on a fool in the hood, tho their guns are obv. illegal.

EDIT: and to agree with OP somewhat but also a bit of a tangent, when i have access to weed i tend to drink way less and exercise more.

Getting stoned, putting on good music and going for a run is the best
