Yeah for days i have been dream and statistically trying to break this down. I have watched film listened to interviews ect.... but i can't seem to find a clear cut winner. I have a feeling Rickson would lose this one based on rumour of another grappling match he had with a high level but less skilled judoka that went to a draw.
 
Yamashita Yasuhiro has this. He's the greatest Judoka ever. He has a verified Judo record of nearly 200 international wins and no losses over 9 years. Not only is he huge and strong (Yamashita is 127kg and bear-mode) but he's also fast, extremely technical and known for his effective groundwork. He's going to throw Rickson with Osoto Gari or Uchi Mata, smother him for a few minutes then strangle him.

I can't see anyone being able to beat Yamashita in his prime, not even Rickson.

Man that would be an awesome matchup. Yamashita was over 100 pounds heavier than Rickson and he moved like a lightweight. He was one of the most athletic super heavyweights I've ever seen. Not only was he the best international judo champion of all time, but he also one of the best ground fighters in the history of the sport. I know Rickson is one of the best ever but I think i would bet on yamashita on this one in a gi grappling match.
 
When Yamashita was doing judo, they allowed for more matwork. And I am pretty sure judo back then was much deeper than BJJ. Besides his family members, and their students, who has Rickson taken on really? I know Rickson did judo too. How did he do against the judoka in Brazil?
 
Unless Rickson went Palhares style and tried to get Yamashita with leglocks, then Yamashita via anything he wants.

People just dont appreciate how good the man was.
 
127 kilos of yamashita vs 80 kilos of rickson is just waaaaaay to much to deal with, in a vale tudo match, I dont know, I dont see any possible way rickson could get the fight to the ground, and even if he did, I dont think he could outgrapple yamashita, a more evenly match wouldve been yamashita vs karelin.

Roger is from the age of specialization so Roger in sport BJJ, only way Yamashita wins if throw to pin and ride those points.

I dont think anyone ever escaped a Yamashita pin.

Not only that but he was a terror on the mat. One of the best newaza guys ever. However, I'm not sure if he could have beat Rickson in a gi grappling match though. Certainly not in a Vale Tudo match. I mean, it wouldnt shock me if he did, because he was a newaza God. But... Rickson is Rickson.... and Okano was smaller than him (although stronger and better athlete most likely).
