WWE releases Damien Sandow

Sandow is the counter argument to "You just have to figure out a way to get over."

I am tempted to create gimmick profiles just to flood the OP with likes.

Sandow was horrendous waste of talent and a blazing example as to why there really needs to be a second and possibly third viable company out there for these guys and for us fans.

Credit to him for finding so many ways to get over. He made the most out of the sidekick gimmick, and it's a shame they didn't ride the wave of momentum he had with the fans. Not everyone can be in the main event, and I am okay with that, but why not use talents like him to build your IC title division around. They have such a deep roster of talent they could conceivably build a strong mid-card with their talent. I am going to keep an eye out for his shoot interview, because you know it's coming. It will be interested to hear his side of things.

The others released today aren't really a big loss, sans Mantell. I felt like he could make a hellacious heel manager and cut some serious promos for talent lacking on the mic.

Further proof that the current regime is inept and they're surviving on the brand alone.

I think that he is very talented.

If he's as talented as people say, he won't have a problem making money elsewhere.

He's a descent talent with shit gimmicks that got over with the fans which contradicts what WWE says about guys winning the crowd over means they are stars. But lets keeping pushing that low level talent RR with artificial created chemistry

I liked him too and wish they would've used him better.

Mizdow gets the boot.the miz gets a push..
Something very wrong there.
I've never . not once bought into the mix.
And his basket balled chest wife is annoying..
But I would...

Good luck to sandow.

Sandow must have farted near the wrong person or something. Guys who get over like he did in a small role, need at least a small push. The WWE doesn't remember the smaller pushes that made the WHOLE SHOW interesting.. There were 4-5 story lines going on that people were interested in at all times during the 97-04 era. The guys look strong against other guys at the mid-level. It gives you a bigger pool to pull fish from if people near the top get injured. Makes the shows better. There should be TEN guys that at any time would be a reasonable option to win the IC title: literally. They should be able to have wayyyyy more matches where either guy winning would make sense.

It's truly a mystery as to why Sandow was treated like he was. Maybe he should've tried an all American gimmick. Seems to keep Jack Swagger employed. That's right, the guy who has never been over, speaks with a lysp, has DUI and drug possession charges, is somehow more valuable than Damien Sandow.

His release and treatment over the past few years is baffling. Utterly baffling.

Not really, in the context of WWE, IMHO. WWE is not a meritocracy. Vince, and to a lesser extent, Paulie and Steph, push who they're marks for, friends with, etc.

I heard he requested his release a few months ago.

He was a talent, but I never saw him as having the 'it' factor a main event draw. Perhaps a while longer as a mid-carder, but whatever his reasons are for requesting to be released, his request was granted.

Charismatic, hard worker but podgy looking with a wrestling style that didn't really fit him (a full nelson slam from someone built like him?)

Wish he was tweaked instead of released.

I think his sin was getting over. Vince doesn't like guys getting over. He prefers his big stars to get boo'd out of the building.

Sad to see him go. He was always funny and I enjoyed him on UpUpDownDown. Hopefully he gets picked up by a decent company and gets a decent push.
