The best jiu jitsu practitioners in the world

ww- Demian Maia
mw- jacare, roger gracie
lhw- Magalhaes
hw- Werdum

Whos the best?

I keep hearing that lightweight is the most stacked with talent, and that the lighter fighters are the most skilled.
Can anyone other weight classes boast this?

Edit: the best I can think of is Nate diaz. Also what class is braulio fighting at?
Edit2: to the people saying Roger, Im talking about in an mma context here if that changes anyones mind. I think its Werdum in mma. Roger is undoubtably the best in straight bjj though

Edit: Did research. Roger.

I'm drawing a blank on LW-Fly though...

It probably is Roger, but if his surname wasn't Gracie then I bet nowhere near as many people would say that hes the best.

I don't know, his 2008 run where he subbed everyone was pretty epic... That alone would have earned the Hype Train

It's not about the name my friend...
Let's just check some of guys in TS list:

Roger submitted Jacar

Well, I think Marcelo garcia gave up on MMA, so you're probably right. Otherwise I'd go with him, considering the amount of high level much bigger grapplers he has beaten.

Roger I guess

I don't think there are any that have their resumes, but there are a few Jiu Jitsu world champs at 155 and below, just none (minus Yahya) in the UFC. Gilbert Burns, Leonardo Santos, and Bibiano Fernandes. Penn used to count but he's at 170 now.

At LW Jimi Hettes is one of the better BJJ guys I think. Takedowns are a little weak but the BJJ is there. Add Nick Diaz and Joe Lauzon, and LW has plenty BJJ talent.

Roger does not have the best BJJ in MMA. He likely does have the bestpure BJJ.
The lighter weight classes have plenty yyyyyof high level BJJ fighters too: Yahya, Serginho, Reis, maybe Aoki and a couple o

Aoki is a good call but hes not really relevent in modern mma

Aoki is the best by far, he's proven that with his dozen or so submission wins.

He's relevant. Getting tooled by Melendez and Alvarez is nothing to be ashamed of. I think Aoki could submit guys like Nate Diaz and Lauzon if given the chance.

Try saying "do you do jiu jitsu?" three times fast. You will sound retarded.

I agree with TS that the big guys get all the shine, but do you think it may have something to do with these absolute tournements? The little guys can't really hang in those, so they don't get their names out as much.
