A lot of the time, after hitting a punching bag for a while, I get moderate wrist pain. I think part of the problem is I have pretty small wrists, but I do always wrap them & use 14 oz. gloves. If this is just me being a bitch, whatever, but if this could possibly result in any longterm wrist damage, I think I should figure something else out. I know many people that take Glucosamine and Microlactin for their joints, would taking anything like that help me out? Thanks.

make sure youre punching correctly with your wrist being straight when it makes contact.

I think that you have bad technique. I have also small wrist, but I haven't any problems hitting the bag.

Are you hitting the bag with your 2 outside knuckles or are striking with the 2 inside knuckles? Make sure the main force from your punch is on the inside knuckles, your wrist is more stable and does not get tweeked unlike if you strike with the outside knuckles. Hopfully that makes since, if not I'm sure some one knows.

how long have you been training, i used to get sore wrists for a few months when i first started, lack of proper technique may have been a factor, but sometimes ur wrists just have to adapt, the bones get denser or closer together or sumthing like that after a while

make sure you wrap you hands correctly, do a couple wraps extra around your wrists.. and it might be that your hitting the bag incorrectly.. or you might be limpwristing when you throw your hooks..

Make sure you aren't bending your wrists when you're striking it and using proper technique for every swing.

Also fish oil helps with any joint pain and keeps the joints healthy.

Alright, thanks dudes, I'll try to work on my form then.

Just to cover all the bases, in the event that you are punching properly: What kind of bag are you hitting?

A lot of the time a waterbase bag.

Like a century bag that is on a stand? Alot of people hurt their wrists on shit like that because it is too soft. All the weight is in the bottom, and not where you are striking. You end up pushing your punches into it to feel like you are hitting something without even noticing it.

Using a wrist roller and doing knuckle pushups will help to strengthen your wrists.
Give it a try, they're probably just not conditioned enough for you to throw heavy punches yet.

Waterbase bags have a weird recoil and I remember my wrists not feeling 100% after hitting a few rounds. If its your only option for a bag you might fill it with sand which holds the bag still better and you might try hitting with less power and working your speed more.

1. Change bags.
2. Wrap tightly around wrist
3. Use better technique
4. Take Omega-3 and/or glucosamine supplements

All except No. 1 helped me out with wrist pain. I never hit water bags. In my opinion, technique has the most to do with it. I used to have wrist, elbow, and shoulder pain when throwing hooks on the bag but now I don't because of better technique. Either that or my body just got used to it.

Technique and wrist wraps are the only things that could be your problem bro.
