I think I personally rate Francis higher than most around here. I know some think he's just a big, athletic guy who hits hard, but I always loved the way he moved for such a big guy, his timing, sense of distance and obviously massive knock out power, and he got a rock iron chin to boot and his wrestling improved a lot by training at Extreme Couture.
Also, some people don't give Francis enough credit saying this and that about his competition, but his resume is arguably as good as anyone's at heavyweight: Stipe, Cain, JDS, Overeem, Arlovski, Blaydes x 2, Rozenstruik, Gane. It's true that JDS was as washed up as it gets, but prime Cain was always prone to getting caught, I mean he got caught three times against Kongo in his absolute prime and it wasn't like Stipe had the best striking defense around either.
With Fury/Ngannou in play though, I think Ngannou is as good as gone. I'm not a big fan of Dana, but Dana isn't stupid and he knows boxing. He knows as well as anyone that Ngannou is going to get beat the fuck down by Fury. If the only way that they could resign Ngannou is to allow Fury fight, why on earth would they re-sign Ngannou when all the leverage is on Ngannou's side?
He knows exactly what will happen against Fury. It won't be pretty and if you ask me, not a compelling fight by any stretch of imagination. If that fight HAS to happen, the right thing for UFC to do is to sign Ngannou AFTER Fury fight, with all the leverage lost by Ngannou.
I know some people are saying UFC will sign Ngannou and give into his demands, but that makes zero sense whatsoever if Fury fight is in play either way. Some may say well, UFC may wanna co-promote that fight, perhaps, but since when was Ngannou ever a big draw anyways?
It looks like Fury/Ngannou fight is destined to happen. That fight almost feels like that fight in that Indiana Jones movie where one guy had a sword and the other guy had a gun. If UFC wants Ngannou back, then they will have him back when he lost all the leverages on his side after one of the worst beatdowns in the history of human civilization.
