How far do you think we can get in understanding how this jellyfish is able to have such biological characteristcs ?
Do you think we will be able to apply those technicques at some point in near future ?

I'm sure some cosmetic surgeon will find a way to inject it into women's lips to get an even more ridiculous fake lip look.

But I don't think they'll ever use it to figure out how to make us immortal.

I think our path to immortality is likely a digital copy of our consciousness. Which sadly doesn't appear to be progressing fast enough to be viable in my lifetime.

It's kind of ironic that the culture that may get us to immortality has managed to make much of its populace, despite being the most prosperous and opportunity laden culture in history, chronically miserable. A good portion of the people who say "Damn, live forever? Sign me up!" probably have to go to therapy twice a week to work up the courage to deal with someone saying hello to them on the street. Personally, I'm enjoying life, but one day sweet release will indeed be sweet.

Give the Japanese a few more years and they'll be able to isolate the gene that gives them all those tentacles and splice it into the human gene responsible for growing pubes and voila, you got immortal tentacle pubes.

as a guy who is naturally unspiritual but who has committed to a deep spiritual path i would LOVE immortality. it would take that kind of time for me to really get somewhere deep. imagine where you could be with 2 or 300 years to develop. add to that time to get multiple degrees. i would choose psychology and sociology first-- think about the kind of insight you could have if you witnessed multiple generations progress or regress with no bullshit historians lying to you about what those times were like.

you could learn so much and gain so much wisdom. i dont think it would cease to be interesting in any way.

A long long time I believe TS.

It will probably coincide with advances in creating a general AI which will help figure that shit out.

imagine, all of current techonology and knowledge is still not enough to understand that.
Really strange we know all that about dna, genes, cells, etc.... we usehi tech , going to space .. but... still not on the level to know how to isolate and apply these jellyfish characteristics on us.
What's the reason, what are we missing ?
