Why is this place called the Mayberry Lounge?

It's a take on the Andy Griffith show (A sitcom that aired in the 50's and 60's). Mayberry was a fictional tight-knit wholesome peaceful town where everybody knew each other and got and got along. Hence if you read the rules in the sticky thread it says that flamming is not tolerated.

I think the original intent was it was supposed to be a friendly place where wholesome things could be discussed but as per usual, it was taken over by gays and now is Tolerancetown.

The Andy Griffith Show was the #1 show in America when we were a more wholesome, much more functional civilization.
Its reflective of values that have long since been abandoned for trannies and weed.

No I remember the show, even though it was way before my time. In my humble opinion it still has the best theme song ever written. The whistling one.

I'm just wondering where the "Mayberry" part comes from.

Can you explain the reference, if you wouldn't mind?

Wasn’t there a local drunk on that show? Which of the thousands of drunks is that here on the Berry?

Why did they change the music forum from Abby Road (i think that was it) to the Jukebox?

Because it was meant to be a laid back alternative to the OT back when it split off in 2003. Not everyone wanted to deal with the free for all that the OT was. Mayberry was just a way to recognize it as a safe space basically.
