Why is it Vassell who fights for Bellator title?

He just fought 3x in 5 months. Im sure he wants a break.
 
Are you seriously asking why the man who made Rogers vs Overeem for the title is making more stupid title fights. Come on.

You've been called out on this nonsense before, but I can save the explanation and keep pasting it, if you're going to insist on repeatedly playing dumb.

Overeem and Fedor was the fight everyone wanted.

But Fedor knew Overeem was juiced to the gills and didn't want to face him without strict testing guarantees.
Overeem refused to have anything to do with strict drug testing, for obvious reasons.

Coker's only options were:
Strip (and probably lose entirely) Overeem, one of his few elite draws
or
Find someone else for them to fight, and keep trying to get it made in the future.

So he matched up #1 Fedor with #10 Werdum. And he matched up the #9 Overeem with the higher-ranked #8 Rogers, who'd just had a very respectable match against Fedor. (Oh, the craziness of making your fans watch your champion face a higher-ranked opponent!).

Yea really Newton/Beltran now Newton/Vassell.:rolleyes: McGeary faced off in the cage with Newton and now all of a sudden his title shot is given to someone else that didn't earn it. Can someone tell me WTF is wrong with this picture?

If Liam wanted a break than why even bother with the whole staredown bit they had in Newton's last fight?

Scott Coker brought in his fucking awful management team, amongst them Rich Chou, the current matchmaker who is a fucking hack. Sam Caplan's dismissal was a crime.
 
You guys never know, remember when Souza vs Rockhold was announced? Everyone thought it was a stupid and pointless match, and then Rockhold shocked everyone and beat him.
 
It's hilarious to me how people are so insistent on being upset and assuming the worst that they vent their frustrations without bothering to actually take a step back, scratch their ass and do some actual research.

- Bellator needed a main event for Oct. 24.

- Newton was contractually owed a fight.

- Liam, who has fought 5 times in the past year, requested some time off to heal up.


Exactly what the fuck do you marks and dweebs who are complaining want Coker to do?

Legally, the promotion was obligated give Newton another fight per the terms of his contract, most likely within the current season.

The #1 contender, who's kept an extremely busy schedule, said he wasn't ready to fight yet.

Do you want Bellator to potentially breach their deal with Newton by benching a healthy champ who is ready and willing to fight on a card where they need a main event because the #1 contender is unavailable?

Liam still has his title shot. It wasn't taken away because the guy wants a bit of time off. He'll fight the winner in 2015. Bellator has a main event. Newton has a fight against a guy with 8 straight wins (3 in Bellator).

What is the big deal, exactly?


According to promotion officials, Vassell, not recent light-heavyweight tournament winner Liam McGeary, is getting the next title shot because McGeary "was banged up and needed some time off." In addition to that, Newton's contract called for a fight sooner rather than later, so McGeary is now scheduled to fight the winner of Newton vs. Vassell.

Vassell vs Newton is a solid title fight for Bellator. Nobody should have to jump through hoops to get a title shot in an org with the depth of Bellator. They are more interested in keeping champs busy than anything else. Liam will get his shot when he is ready. Vassell is a very credible substitute for McGeary.
 
I'd much rather have active champions. If newton hadn't fought for a year and this match got set up I'd be irritated. But vassel is legit, should be a good fight. I think vassel wrecks newton.

To use it to hype the fight when they do fight. Pretty simple. Mma fans apparently can't get the big picture.
