Silva is without a shadow of a doubt P4P one of the hardest hitters in MMA. The man hurts his opponents with his fist and gets the KO when the punch lands where it needs to land.

What is scary about his power is that he can hurt you on the ground with a punch while allowing him to get submissions in.

Plus here are ten reasons why he is indeed one of the top P4P hardest hitters in MMA.

1) First fighter to crack Leban's chin. Leban immediately did not want any part in exchanging with Silva once he got punch in the face.

2) First man to KO Forrest Griffin with a punch (Jardine got a TKO from landing multiple punches resulting in a ref stoppage).

3) Dropped Griffin and several other fighters with a jab while stepping back.

4) Rocked Sonnen with a punch from bottom guard. Only time I seen anything similar was from a boxer in the early UFC, except Silva followed up with a triangle on Sonnen for the tap out win.

5) Second man to knock James Irvin with a punch which left a massive cut on his cheek. When does one often see that from a punch?

6) Knock a dude out cold with a spinning elbow (not a punch but still now).

7) Hurt Hendo with a punch while on the ground to set up for a submission.

8) Got a KO in a Boxing match with a body shot all while wearing ten ounce gloves.

9) TKO Marquardt with punches while he was on the ground.

10) And of course this:

I don't think anyone is underestimating his power, but he isn't one of the p4p hardest hitters. It has more to do with his timing and accuracy, along with having an above average amount of power.

Generally we credit Silva's accuracy and creativity for setting a lot of those things up, but I think most people agree he probably hits like a truck.

Because his precision is really precise.

It's not, he isn't a huge power puncher, he gets his KOs by being very accurate and by being great at getting guys to come forward into his strikes.

LOL This is the most dumbest assesment I read on here in a way to discredit his power.

Only Sherdoggers came up with this nonsense.

Mayweather is the most accurate and well timed puncher in the world and he does not get as many knock outs because he lacks power. Hopkins is another one and he is of a higher weight class.

Silva has great power. No one can give me a reason why he is not P4P one of the hardest hitters.

I like to see detailed reasons on here on why he does not have as much power. Until then, his performances speaks for itself.

Only on Sherdog folks.

i dont think anything of his is underrated in these parts.

and it looks to me like his knockouts are more about technique than raw power, but then again, i dont know shit.

because his speed and timing are his best weapon, of course he's a heavy hitter but IMO his ko wins are cause his accuraccy and not pure power.

Because he cuts from 235-240 lbs to 185 (even though it was shown on a video that he was 191 lbs 3 days out from a fight so he obviously dehydrates himself of 45 lbs 3 days out.)

Because he fought crappy competition (MW has magically gotten better now that Weidman is champ)

Because when he fought at LHW he only fought fighters who were "taylor made" for him

There are probably a few of the haters rationalizations that I'm forgetting, but you ge the point.

To paraphrase Patrick Cote:
"I've been hit harder by guys in training, but what I will say is he is the most accurate striker. He knows exactly where to hit you. That is sort of the key to his effectiveness."

With that said, Silva is basically a KO factory.

Historically, in the UFC, the closest to him in finishing ability with striking is Vitor Belfort (that's a statistic)

Silva does have the most knockouts in the UFC and still has good power, so you have a legitimate argument.

He floored Okami with a jab. He hits like a truck. Trust me, he back.

Why are there so many Bones fans here?

Why do so many people think Reem is GOAT here?

Why does everyone keep saying TKD is the best base for MMA here?

235 to 240? This # gets bigger every year. If Anderson is up at that weight he is in terrible shape, and is probably out of camp. That is hardly "cutting" that much weight.

Nm, I see you were trolling, but I still stick to that for anyone who believes that shit
